Well, it's out now, as most everyone knows. No more mystery as to who Captain Buhne is. I liked it better the way it was. What becomes of the Buhne Tribune after the outing remains to be seen.
Looks like one of my blogging colleagues wants to take things even further and drag all the rest of the blogs down with Buhne, starting WITH ME!
Now, who is the anonymous blogger, Heraldo Riviera, of Humboldt Herald? And who is Carson Park Ranger of Eureka Standard? This inquiring mind wants to know!
ReplyDeleteWhile I am in favor of protecting free speech, it concerns me that an assistant in the office of the Eureka City attorney, with all the ensuing access to confidential papers, should view himself in the Walter Winchell tradition. How can anyone feel their correspondance or dealings with Sheryl Shaffner won't end up splattered across the blogs. I know I wouldn't trust this office until he was gone.

ReplyDeleteHurley is sarcastic and mean spirited. Such a style masks a general lack of skill and integrity. What is all the fuss about? You people (no I am not referring to African Americans or any other "protected group") need to get a life. When a sarcastic, untalented blogosphere writer is celebrated as a celebrity it makes me think that perhaps the African American community is right. All you have to be to succeed in America is white.

ReplyDeleteIf I have, I'll probably never know it. And it wouldn't be because I've betrayed the confidence of a client. I very rarely discuss my cases on the blog. I've recused myself from some pretty significant public debates simply because I don't want to use the blog to promote my cases. I want the blog to represent my views and not positions I'm paid to take. I'm sure Buhne has done the same.
It's a scurrilous charge to make unless you can point to something specific. You're condemning him for something he might have done in theory.

Granted, it seems a good number of the commentors on his site are mean spirited (to put it mildly) but I'd be hard pressed to say Buhne is.

ReplyDeleteI am sure many people in the community who have had dealings with the City of Eureka's attorney over the last few years are thinking back on the process to see if this "Walter Winchell" could have been leaking things or tilted the playing field one way or the other to favor his political cronies.

ReplyDeleteFor those watching to see if Heraldo follows the Buhne Tribune in revealing who Heraldo is, I've posted about four times now that Heraldo's blog is a front for Humboldt Watershed Council and is it's PAC blog running under false colors ala Salzman in order to further influence Humboldt County citizens.
