Consider This, Nancy!

Fourth District Supervisorial Candidate, Nancy Flemming, proposes FREE county wide broadband. Whatever. She should at least consider what this fellow has to say about municipalities trying to get involved in the broadband business. Actually, it's kind of hard for me to tell if she means the county should be the one owning the broadband business, as the City of San Francisco wants to do, or what. But just in case.

Didn't Greg Allen suggest the same thing for Arcata when he ran for City Council? I guess some ideas transend party labels.

What commodity that a politician ever promised for "free" didn't cost some poor taxpayer $$$?

It's a bit of stretch to address a parenthetical remark as a serious proposal. I do appreciate the opinion piece on municipalities owning broadband. Definitely not a project that government should take on. Our elected officials would do us well by getting a good long-term contract for these services with a reliable provider.
