I Blew It
Silly me. I missed both the Measure T debate on KMUD radio yesterday and the Flemming, Marks, Neely forum on TV last night. I guess that leaves me nothing to blog about today except to mention that. Oh well.
I'm a Libertarian living in Humboldt County, CA. I've lived here in Eureka since 1973 and joined the Libertarian Party in 1992. This blog will mostly focus on local political issues, but I may stray into state and national issues as well, when I can't help myself. i missed them too! Hope they are going to be replayed somewhere - don't care that much about KMUD - that will just be the choir singing
Marks was good. Flemming came off looking a bit narcissistic. She really took it onthe chin over Indian Island.
Is a transcript available anywhere?
KMUD turned out to be pretty interesting, Paul Dillon from the Green Party was the final caller and he grilled Kaitlin on her complete lack of scientific research to back up her claim that "local small business which are incorporated don't make contributions."
Harmony Groves had a fund raiser in Humboldt Brews, LLC. Would that be outlawed, I think so.
How many local yokels went to INC and LLC because of the workmans comp issue, alot.
debate is on neely website!!
bonnieneely.org
The debate on Bonnie's website is not the one on KEET, its the two-way Republican Women one.
Sorry, we don't get KHUMPOOP here in the red state. Guess the inmates of the Humboldt Soviet in Mexifornia will have to duke it out. It must have been interesting for the citizens of Constantinople to learn of the sacking of Rome in 410AD by Alaric and his barbarians.

Fred:
You missed the 4th District debate? I am upset. I think I held my own against two well polished politicians. It was good forum and I am glad I was included. I had many calls and e-mail saying I did good. I was surprised to run across people(while out knocking on doors, approaching 3,000) today that watched the debate. Our phonebanking is showing huge gains in name recognition from when we started. I know you were upset about me running for this position, but our campaign is gaining momentum. My Marks for Supervisor committee has been doing a great job in grassroots organizing. You sure I can't put up a sign at your place?
Richard Marks
Fred, Why were you upset that Marks was running? Are you pulling for Neely and afraid Marks would act as a spoiler? I would have guessed you are for Fleming since you are so fond of the Arkleys.
Marks has run before, perhaps that has something to do with it, and he has aligned himself with some nutcases.
Thanks, anon.r.mous! Is this for real?

Hey Richard... welcome to MySpace! Looks like you already have some friends! Good job!
And hey EVERYBODY ELSE! You should help Richard! His apponents have lots of money because they know "the right people" (remember corporations are considered people under current US law). Richard only knows real everyday people like us... so we all have to chip in to make this thing happen.
Please DONATE TODAY!
Or... if you're really broke, please help us by knocking on doors, making phone calls, or tabling. There are plenty of volunteer opportunities. If you're interested, send me a message.
Peace,
Shane

Yeah I especially liked some of Richard Mark's myspace friends like "Poison Kandy" "Osama" and my favorite "WANNA FUCK" though there was this trashy little KSLG there to ruin the moment.

Upset is a bit strong of a word to use. I just thought it would be an easier race to follow with just two candidates in it.
Still sounds like a pretty strange position for a guy promoting third party politics. Don't the libs and the greens want more than two choices?
Perhaps it is, although I don't really consider myself "promoting" third party politics. I consider myself to be trying to present a libertarian view (at least most of the time) to local political issues.
So Fred did you bother to tune in to KHSU last night and hear your guy Crawford go down in flames?
I thought Crawford did a good job. He is really good at sticking to the message and not getting pulled into side debates. And he sure knows he facts about how unions and other special interest groups are really the ones who shovel money into politics. I would want him on my debate team anyday!
No, this time because, not only did I forget, I forgot cause I'm dealing with a nasty stomack flu, or whatever it is.
I'd heard he did quite well, especially considering the moderator was Pro- T.
Crawford did a great job in a hostile environment.
