SRP-D Does Confusion Hill

I believe this is the first time I've seen mention of the Confusion Hill bypass project in the Santa Rosa Press- Democrat. Yet another reminder to me that Confusion Hill is in Mendocino County, not Humboldt. For some reason I keep thinking it's in Humboldt.

That imaginary line between Mendocino & Humboldt Counties just keeps getting wider & wider, doesn't it? When I lived in Mendo, I sometimes forgot that Garberville was in Humboldt! Same with Cloverdale on the other end. Go figure.
As an aside, Kent Porter of the SRPD is the best damned news photographer anywhere! (No, I don't know him but I've been a fan for years.)

Indeed. I always feel Cloverdale's in Mendocino County. Only a little ways outside of it, in reality, though.

Yesterday I tried to figure out when I felt I was back in Humboldt County, actual borders aside.

I think I feel like I'm back in Humboldt right after you come off the freeway, heading north, at Legget. Then you start the twisty- turny road that goes through Standish- Hickey campground and ends up at Confusion Hill. But Humboldt doesn't start until the end of the freeway at Piercy before Richardson Grove. Quite a difference in actual miles.

Regardless, I still feel at home when in Mendocino County for some reason. Never lived there. Maybe some past life?
