Prop. 8 passed thanks to Obama's cynical manipulation of the black churchgoing vote. Blacks voted 70% in favor of Prop. 8.
When it comes to fag-hater legislation, always turn to the Democrats to get it done. Just ask Bill Clinton.
I still find it fascinating to see black Americans speaking out in favor of separatism and inequality. I wish I could say I find it funny but, truly, it makes me sad. Jon Stewart, however, makes me laugh until I pee myself.
I'm glad that Jon Stewart brought up Mormon involvement in promoting Prop 8. I suppose that Mormon's feel like they've really mainstreamed themselves when they can use marriage to persecute others.
I never mention the carnivalesque character of Joseph Smith, nor the bizarre history of Mormonism when the elders show up on my doorstep, but next time I'll be sure to question them on the wisdom of supporting Prop 8.
CPR, check out the comment by the Highly Esteemed Anonymous poster, (me), on the "Utah Gays Motivated By Prop 8 Battle" thread here on Fred's Humboldt Blog. When the Mormom Missionaries came to convert ME, I reacted in a somewhat unexpected manner. You might find it interesting, possibly amusing.
i don't think we can blame it all on african americans in the state. i didn't see things start happening till then end, with videos and such, and by then it felt too late. its just a matter of time though till marriage in ca is truly equal for all consenting adults.
