Salmon Decline

Yep, it does seem like salmon are on the decline around here. Some are arguing about why as the My Word column in today's Times- Standard points out. What gets me is it seems that, from the Klamath northward, salmon seem to be doing ok or even very well.

This AP story was included in today's hard copy of the Times- Standard. It says the Snake and Columbia salmon are doing very well with a record run of sockeye this year. Why them and not us?

They don't have so many enviros as we do, or homesteaders either who are tapping most all of the dry season water sources here leaving the spawning creeks without water.

Stephen, not that I think you can even understand this, but blaming 'enviros' and 'homesteaders' on this is like setting your house on fire and blaming the Fire Department for not putting it out sooner.

You, sir, need to expand your horizons. (Thats as nice as I can put it.)

You must be thinking of fire departments like those seen in Gangs of New York where they lit fires to put out. It was the ecological blindness of enviros seeking headlines and the greed of many of enviro leaders for publicity that I hold responsible for the late realization that "Uh, oh, there's no water left..oh, no problem, we'll just buy a water storage tank from Bob Mckee, the guy that sold us our land and most everyone else' around here",(making several million bucks in the process.)
