Fred's Humboldt Blog
I'm a Libertarian living in Humboldt County, CA. I've lived here in Eureka since 1973 and joined the Libertarian Party in 1992. This blog will mostly focus on local political issues, but I may stray into state and national issues as well, when I can't help myself. Please post your comments by clicking on the "comments" link at the bottom of each post. Although I do moderate comments, you need not be a registered user to post them.

Perfect!
He's a fiscal conservative and social liberal. Probably his most controversial position for readers here is that he supports gun control.
Go ahead punk, step on my rights, make my day.
That second sentence explains a student's amicus brief regarding brainwashing by public educators.......
I'd like developers not to tell me how to live. Citizens should have the right to get to work without driving a car if they wish. That means we can't simply add housing in rural and suburban neighborhoods.
We can't do this without a pro-active government.
I'd also like to make sure the medical industry doesn't eviscerate health consumer's wealth when we reach the end our our lives or struggle through an expensive health crisis. Citizens can't do this alone vs. the "free" market.
I think libertarians forget how much the "free" market in our society is the one dictating how we out to live. This is something liberals are fighting for.
It should be common sense that we have opportunities to work hard when we can and not have to suffer poverty when we no longer have the ability to work. The "free" market won't help us get there without help from the public sector.
Visit any developing country to see what I mean. That is what you get without an effective public sector to protect those in control of the private sector from taking advantage of the unfettered ability to tell everyone how to live.
