Another Measure X
I found Martha Walden's My Word column, in today's Times- Standard, a fun read, not that I agree with everything she wrote. She just seems to have an almost Andy Rooney- type style.
Hmmm...Martha Walden: Have I seen or heard that name somewhere before?

Martha is downright crazy. Without the ability to purchase ad space and time, a candidate cannot realistically communicate with the population, much less get a message out in the face of apathetic and lazy reporters. Ad space represents free speech. The donations that help pay for that space are vital to the process, unless only multi-millionaires run, and can afford to spend their own money.
That's part of what was wrong with Measure T and most campaign finance reform attempts, and it's what is wrong with her idea. How does she propose to become "informed"? By reading the TS? Pathetic.
