Foreign Pedestrian Problems?

Isn't this the second time in a few months foreign exchange students have been hit by a car? The last time was when two french foreign exchange students were hit by a sheriff's deputy on Harris Street in Eureka. Was this girl french?

If any more foreign students get hit by cars around here I might start thinking this is part of some conspiracy.

I guess they fail to look both ways before crossing the street in waffle-land.

This however, had me laughing:

“Common sense is you go to the school (and) you leave your name and number,” she said. “He hit her hard enough to knock her down and he didn’t do anything.”

No, dumb bitch, he did this:

“The male driver, approximately 60 years old, got out, asked her if she was fine; she said, ‘Yes,’ and they both went their separate ways,” Dahlen said.

That's alot more then "nothing". If I remeber correctly, once she said she was fine and OK, he is clear, just like if you get into a car wreak and pay the person $50 at the scene. It's a settlement.

Let this be a lesson to everybody, just because you are in a crosswalk, doesn't make you safe.

One thing that really gets me is how many people walk across the street without looking to see if any cars are coming. Sure, a lot of them look once, right before they leave the sidewalk, but most just look straight ahead while they're in the street.

What if some car turns on to the street after they've checked for traffic?

I see that all the time. I'm surprised more people don't get hit by cars.

As an aside, I got hit by a car while walking in the parking lot of the Eureka Mall. I was approaching my truck and the old (old) lady in the car next to mine backs up into me. Just a bump so no harm done, but it pissed me off.

I just glared at the lady and got in my truck. She drives off and then turns around, comes back to where she was parked, gets out and looks at the back of her car. Apparently she didn't realize she backed into me and thought I hit her or something.

She probably shouldn't be driving.

That is funny. I met an old guy
during one of my trips down south
that had a band called boy hits car. He seemed pretty cool.
