A Flemming Spaghetti Feed

We'd heard a couple days ago that Nancy Flemming would be having a spaghetti feed as a campaign event. We thought off and on about attending as it was just a few blocks from our house: The Odd Fellows Hall on Buhne Street.

I wasn't sure I really wanted to deal with that, after driving all the way up from Novato. Then again, Connie doesn't feel like cooking much after a long drive like that and, besides, what else am I gonna do? So, we decided to walk on over to the Odd Fellows Hall.

I've never been to any of these spaghetti or pancake feeds that are held by various groups throughout the year. I was surprised at how many people were there. I'd say around a hundred people, maybe more. In fact, after I got my plate I was wondering if there was a free seat available. Found one without too much trouble, though.

What a gala event. All kinds of people there: Jerry Partain, serving spaghetti, along with Joy Finley. Rex Bohn at the microphone when we first got there. Roger Rodoni, Dave and Penny Elsebusch and probably many more I didn't see.

All in all a pretty fun time. All for just $5.00 a plate. I'll have to do that again.

Rodoni? But didn't he endorse the "horse" he knew?

Good point. Didn't occur to me at the time.

That is right. Johanna and Roger are on Neely's list of supporters.

Figures that the Elsebuschs were there

Sorry I missed it Fred. I would have looked for you.

Erik; the horse Roger knew bucked him off. Lesson maybe? C'mon, for $5 a plate, I should have been there! They would have lost money on my appetite! But alas, I had to work.

You guys don't seem to realize the motive of a campaign feed isn't to give you a bargain meal. That's what Hometown Buffet is for. A feed event is also not to make you feel good so you hand over your vote. If it was, a candidate would just give you a fridge magnet. It's cheaper.

Five dollars is just for starters to get you to the event. Fred, you didn't provide your address or donate anything more? That makes you a loss leader.

I'm not sure what you mean, 5:26.

Fred is providing support, he has signs, and he physically shows up to demonstrate his support... not everyone gives money.

You seem excited at the bargain you got with a $5 meal, but the bargain really wasn't the point of the event.

REVERSED: Dikeman Shot Down By Appeals Court

Ninth Circuit cites Worth Dikeman's use of 'blatant racial and cultural stereotypes' in removing Native American jurors, reversing lower court's holding exonerating the Deputy HumCo D.A.

Why Fred, not a peep from you about this very important event!

I guess you like to ignore some news, huh? But if it had been upheld, you'd be prattling and clucking about it for the next two weeks.

Worth is a racist bigot. We already know that. He happens to work for a plagerist. We know that. What can we do but wait for someone qualified to run in four years? Bring back Farmer! I can't believe I said that!

I comment on whatever I feel like commenting on. In that you are correct. Besides, I don't have time to comment on everything.

But let's imagine the ruling was against Gallegos instead of Dikeman. What would you be saying then? Probably something along the line of:

"That's just the Ninth Circuit, that court's been reversed by higher courts more than any other court in this country. Numerous lower courts already ruled in Gallegos' (Dikeman's) favor. Not only that, it was a 6 to 5 decision, hardly an overwhelming majority decision."

But, since it was a ruling against Dikeman, you spin it the other way.

Keep in mind, just because a court rules one way, doesn't necessarily make it right, it just makes it law.

Gee Fred - you seem to forget that Gallegos was already found to be a racist in Humboldt County in a jury trial. The judge was Judge Feeney. But that doesn't matter to the Dikemant haters.

That's because it is ok to discriminate against white guys.

Is Flemming gaining on Neely?

"Not only that, it was a 6 to 5 decision, hardly an overwhelming majority decision."

But all 11 agreed that Dikeman was wrong. That is a unanimous majority.

Eric Kirk:
"Incidently, NONE of the judges denied that Dikeman's actions were wrong."

"That's because it is ok to discriminate against white guys."

No it ain't. And spell it White guys, pardner.

I'll feel better when the murderer goes free on a technicality.

At 4:31 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I doubt that will happen. If there's a retrial they'll just get a better prosecutor this time.

The question is not whether Dikeman was wrong. People are wrong everyday. I read the remarks and I don't think them as racist. Niether did the trial court, the appellate court, the federal district court and the ninth circuit panel that first reviewed it. Now you have a split by one vote that is certainly going to the supreme court. And you have a bunch of ingratiates who are screaming racist to a genuinely fine man who has given over twenty years of service protecting this community. I think that that deserves a thank you and not a f-ck you.

But then again, I wasn't raised by wolves.

Don't cross Gallegos, character assassination is sure to follow.

Indeed. It bounces all around. People jumping on a court decision could come back to bite them on the ass.

How did Nancy's Spaghetti feed topic turn into more DA stuff? I heard Nancy is having a high end fund raiser at the Avalon tonight. I wonder if the Blue Lake Rancheria Rep Arla Ramsey will be there to write another $25,000 check! (Give your workers a raise Arla!) I better get off line and go to BL and play the slots to help out!

That would be fair.

I have no idea what that's about. I didn't say it.

Richard,

All you can eat prime rib on Weds, Seafood on Fridays and Steak and Lobster on Saturdays. Fred would say that all buffets are good just some are better.

Samoa, Remember, that $25,000 from the Blue Lake Rancheria was for NEELY not for Flemming.

That's why it would be fair if they gave equally to Fleming.
