Local Candidate Pages

Heard Nancy "Nan" Abrams new radio ad the other day. I noticed she mentioned her campaign web site and it got me wondering about who's up to speed and who's not, as far as web presence is concerned.

Looks like both Nancy Flemming and Bonnie Neely have their sites up, which covers the Board of Supes race.

For Eureka City Council, I see Jeff Leonard has his page up. I believe he was the first to do so, unless I missed someone else's.

Another incumbent, Mike Jones, has his up as well. Not much there, but good for a start.

N
ancy Abrams, as I mentioned, has been advertising her site during her radio ad. Not a whole lot there, though, at this point. All I see is a phone number, e-mail address and a link to Paypal for donations.

So, at this point, none of the first ward candidates; Wolford, Glass or Wilburn, seem to have a web page. Leonard does for second ward, but nothing for Ron Kuhnel (could have sworn I saw one somewhere, but it's not listed on Humguide or the League of Women Voter's Smartvoter page).

Ward 5 comes out the winner with both Abrams and Jones putting pages up, although Abrams' needs to get hers finished.
.
In the Mayoral race, Pete Levallee is the only candidate whose page I can find. Are the other candidates not going to bother? I see neither of the three mayoral candidates bothered with the LOWV Smartvoter page, either.

The only campaign page I can find in the Arcata City Council race is Dave Meserve's. Hard to believe, out of all those candidates, only one bothered with a web page.

None of them, including Meserve, bothered with the Smartvoter page, either. I wonder why? It doesn't cost a thing to set up a Smartvoter page with LOWV.

If some of the candidates do have pages up and I haven't found them, don't blame me. If they're that hard to find, they're certainly not going to be found by someone just casually interested in finding them.

Did you hear about the so-called Green Party, now fully taken over by Cobbite insectoids, only endorsing Me-Serve and ignoring the other two Greens in the race, Dana Quillman and Jeff Schwartz. Looks like the dark age of following Loco Solutions orders is here.

If you can't pass the litmus test of parading anti-Bush resolutions before the camera, so be it.

Thanks for the heads up on the links, folks. Again, don't blame me if they hadn't been submitted to Humguide. As for Smartvoter, I don't know about tht one. Sometimes candidates just don't pay attention to their mail.

At 5:32 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Precisely. We can blame you for not using Google. It's the 21st century Fred. Type in a name, press enter, click the link, go to the candidate's web site. You did no research and then wrote about it. Why are you still living in 1995?

At 6:04 PM, Blogger Fred Mangels said...

Point well made. Still, candidates should make the effort to have their links EVERYWHERE!

The League/SmartVoter is/was sending out letters last week. It may be a few weeks before candidate information for the November election is posted.

At 7:30 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Fred, don't feel too bad about GOOGLE. I never heard of the websites you mentioned.

At 7:30 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

You fool! It's clear by Fred's outfit that he is still living in 1965.

At 7:57 PM, Blogger Fred Mangels said...

Outfit? What outfit? I've always worn Early slob. Maybe not as early as '65, but certainly by '69 and afterwords.

Be interesting to see Nan Abrams campaign disclosures, that will say more than her radio ad. Same with Larry Glass. Is Ron Kuhnel distancing himself from those two?

At 12:01 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Was he ever associated with them?

At 12:02 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I've been a slob about the same amount of time. No T-shirt without a food stain.

At 12:03 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

But I don't have one of them cute little caps like Fred.

They were only able to do that because they disenfranchised several Greens from voting. Cobb's evil knows no bounds.

Nan is running radio ads 8 1/2 weeks out. What's with that?

Maybe she has money to burn.

Not a whole lot of people do. They're handmade by the wifey. She's sold some, though, and a lot of her family members have them.

Early name recognition when there are going to be nearly a dozen additional names swirling about. I'm surprised more of the candidates aren't following suit.

Not to diminish Cobb's role, but I heard that Dana isn't taking money or endorsements. And she's telling people to vote for Meserve! She doesn't seem serious. I assume that was taken into account when the Greens made their decision.

I'm not a Green, so I don't have much to say about it, but that's my reading of the situation

This is a race between Dave Meserve, Alex Stillman, and Mark Wheetley. Winkler could be a contender, but he's failed before and lacks PR skills.

At 2:47 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

BS, Pitino didn't take endorsements or money either and he WON. Talk about Meservist propaganda, you should be ashamed Dave.

At 2:55 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Nan who?

At 5:39 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Kuhnel is part of the Cobb "slate". He certainly is associated with LaVallee and Neely...all their signs are up together.

At 6:36 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I saw Bonnie Neely pounding signs in the neighborhood of the Cobb for Dogcatcher National Headquarters on M Street in Eureka. Interestingly, she doesn't have one posted there. Yet. Is she distancing herself from the DUHC?

At 11:39 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Bonnie Neely in bed with Cobb and Salzman and Local Solutions? No way.

At 3:41 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yes way. Very much so. Ask anyone in the know. She won't tell you though.

At 7:45 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

That's just tragic.

At 8:58 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

You betcha its tragic, but it is a reality and a voting issue. Bonnie, you have lost your credibility now.

As for Meserve, the greens eat their own like the dems. Meserve reregistered as a dem because he said the new council members were more greens then dem - Whaaaa?

At 9:47 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Bonnie Neely's campaign manager is Chris Kerrigan & Associates for a $30,000 fee. Well at least Chrissy has a job now.

Kerrigan's "associates" seen around town planting Neely yard signs are none other than R. Trent Salzman and Shane Brinton.

R. Trent Salzman can be seen around town wearing his "Re-elect Neely" button.

Shame on you Supervisor Neely. Having a fraud and a communist on your campaign does not speak highly of you.

At 11:26 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Bonnie is a great person and reaches across the isle. Re-elect Neely!

At 1:20 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

She isn't reaching across the aisle - she has sat down on the opposite aisle. There is the difference. She has alienated her own local party and joined the ranks of Salzman and loco solutions and the DUHC. If she were a non-partisan, moderate, I would have NO problem. However, she saw here the fact that Salzman and the loco's had targeted her demise and joined them to avoid being ousted. Unfortunately, she lost her traditional base in doing so. Maybe her new friends can keep her in office, maybe not. But, she has lost a great deal of her credibility and the moderate reasonablenss that made her once a good supervisor.

Thats what is so sad. To abandon your principles only to keep your position. Truly sad.

At 3:01 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

1:20 Well said. Can't agree more. Will others? I just don't know.

At 3:55 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Salzman? Loco? Guilt by association, except the association is in your head. Get attempt at character assassination.

At 4:04 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

It's not reaching across the aisle, she could do that without getting in bed with Salzman. That's called doing anything it takes to keep your job.

At 5:56 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

$30,000? I doubt it.

At 6:00 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

3:55, are you saying there's a rift in the capital-M Movement? That Salzman and Loco Solutions are parting ways? What great news if its true, maybe its some of that buyer's remorse about Measure T finally sinking in.

At 7:12 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Hey Nan Abrams's campaign manager is a registered lib.Watch out Fred, loco solutions is coming to get you!!

At 1:31 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Twombly's dropping out of Loco Solutions may be more than meets the eye as well. Certainly more than will ever be covered in the so-called local newspapers.

Oh, I see, Kris Keller. Never heard of her and she's not on my voter list. Of course, my list is a few years old.

Too funny, who do you think Cobb and Salzman would support? Nancy Flemming? They support Bonnie because she is less conservative than Flemming. Common Sense, not a conspiracy.

At 12:11 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Ron was cheerleading Larry and Nam at the meeting at the Democratic Headquaters last night wearing all their buttons on his sleve...

At 12:34 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Bonnie is a great person, reaches reach across the isle, and has maintained her base of support. Re-elect Neely!

At 1:12 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Actually, Bonnie does not reach across the aisle, she has moved there and abandoned her old base. Its time for a change and for someone who is not in bed with the Salzman types.

Interesting...
People who buy their groceries from Wal-Mart -- it has one-fifth of the nation's grocery business -- save at least 17 percent.

Wal-Mart and its effects save shoppers more than $200 billion a year, dwarfing such government programs as food stamps ($28.6 billion) and the earned-income tax credit ($34.6 billion).

Liberals, aghast, see the choices Americans make with their dollars and their ballots, and announce -- yes, announce -- that Americans are sorely in need of more supervision by ... liberals.

www.realclearpolitics.com/article

I don't need supervison by Larry Glass and locosolutions, or Bonnie Neely.
