Santa Rosa 101 Work Moves Ahead

For those of you that travel regularly to the Bay Area, some sign of progress will be seen early next week. Looks like they've completed at least one side of the new bridge and traffic in the southbound lane of 101 will be diverted to the new bridge section.

Now, they'll start tearing down the old bridge of southbound 101 you've been driving on all this time. Looks like congestion will stay the same for now, though.

The nogrothers held up widening 101 thru Santa Rosa for years, delaying local traffic, as well as others, like ourselves just trying to pass thru to the south. I don't know how much cost was added to this delay, not only in construction $$ but also thru lost productivity and increased gasoline consumption and increased pollution. Notice how much better traffic moves now south of the Hwy 12 connection?
During this latest election Ken Miller, he of anti-fluoride fame, made a revealing comment during an interview, something to the effect that he didn't want any increases in highway carrying capacity locally, such as is being done in Santa Rosa. Talk about gall!

It's going to help Fred for sure! When he's running Crystal back up from the bay he hates being delayed. Time is money!
