Joy's Fifteen Minutes

How cute. My buddy, Joy Finley, gets another fifteen minutes of fame by getting her picture published in the Eureka Reporter. This, the result of a "Surrender Is Not An Option" day demonstration help by local Republicans at Congressman Mike Thompson's office.

Looks like a whopping five Republicans showed up to hand some trinkets and a letter to Thompson's staff. I suspect they were probably better received than the anti- war demonstrators that were pestering Thompson's office for so long (Are they still there?).

Well, nice effort, Joy and the rest. Makes a lot more sense demonstrating for something you feel you have differences over, as opposed to demonstrating at his office for something he's already pretty much on your side with, as was happening with the anti- war demonstrations.

It strikes me as unmitigated arrogance that these two idiotic pampered women who look like they would have a nervous breakdown of they damaged one of their manicured nails lecturing someone who actually served in combat about courage under fire.

Perhaps they could have expressed the same sentiment in a less mendacious and obscene way by getting anotomically correct mannniquens dressed up like Bush and Cheney and fellatiate them in front of Thompson's office in order to show thier support for the war effort.

Fred, how fucking stupid are you?

Thompson voted to KEEP FUNDING THE WAR twice already this year, just like he voted to KEEP FUNDING THE WAR in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006.

You vote to fund the war, then its your war. No way these scumsucking Democrats are going to duck responsibility for whoring for the military industrial complex.

I expect better from a so-called libertarian. Get your facts straight.

Robash; your 3:05 comment is out of line. I'll let it go this time. I didn't call the lefty demonstrators at Thompson's office idiots. You should learn to be a bit more respectful of those you disagree with.

Right wing republicans routinely attack the courage , sanity and patriotism of those with whom they disagree.

I don't recall Joy standing up to denounce this kind of behavior amongst her ideological compatriots.

To the ancient Greeks the word "idiot" did not mean someone who was stupid or mentally retarded instead it meant someone who was so self absorbed that they could not see any other way except thier own. That seems like a good description of the modern day Republican party under Bush.
Insofar as her postion on the Iraq war, You may not like what I said but, there is plenty of empirical evidence to support waht I was saying.

Still no response from Fred on Thompson and his whoring for merchants of death. I guess the Libertarian commitment to getting our troops out of overseas entanglements doesn't extend to Mr. Mangels, the one-man party in Humboldt. Any Libertarians up for a meeting so we can elect a spokesman (or woman) who more accurately represents Libertarian ideals?

Well, it would be nice if he'd voted against the funding. Thing is, they generally stuff bills with all kinds of other things (often to get people to vote for a bill) so no telling just what was in that bill and why he voted for it.

Have you asked him why he voted for it?

Then you wrote, "so we can elect a spokesman (or woman) who more accurately represents Libertarian ideals?".

So you do? Jeeesh!

You might be disappointed if you want to get involved officially with the state party. It's pretty well domintated by the War Party, at least the current and last Chairs are very much War Party.

As an aside, I was chatting on Yahoo Messenger with the current State Chair the other night. I directed him to my blog. He took a look and among the comments he made was suggesting I remove the link to AntiWar.com and add a link to the Mainstream Libertarians web page- that's Eric Dondero's page which is pretty much the War Party Libs page.

I told him I'm not removing Antiwar.com (as if my blog is any of his business anyway) and I'm certainly not adding a link to any of Dondero's pages.

Believe it or not, him and I actually get along just fine. Then again, we've never met in person.

Yeah, there's nothing like meeting a person to kill the relationship.

Who cares about the state party. We don't need their permission to do a local party.

No shit. Why not run a Libertarian for Harbor District? Ronnie has been in her seat way too long.
