Another Mendo Biggie Busted For Pot

Seems like marijuana is everywhere in Mendocino County. About a week and a half ago an employee of the Mendocino County District Attorney's Office was found in possession of a large amount of pot.

Now it turns out Mendocino activist, and daughter of a former congresscritter, Laura Hamburg, is being charged with possession of marijuana for sales. The property the stash was found on belonged to her father, Dan Hamburg.

To add an interesting twist to the October incident, Laura Hamburg called Keith Faulder, former prosecutor and past candidate for district attorney, to the scene. I would suppose that would have been for legal advice?

I can't help but wonder if all these well known government employees and politicos getting involved in the pot business is giving pot a bad reputation.

I have similar questions, Fred. Do they think they are untouchable? You've got this and the Schectman/Vilca/LLC thing going on here - there;s a guy who was given a key to the office as a pro-bono attorney for the District Attorney's office. So what happens now? Maybe the Feds and the IRS'll have to get 'em. Seems to me people who are in public office passing laws that put others in jail, or charging people with crimes ought to be held to a higher standard.

Yes you would think they would be held to a higher standard. Not in Humboldt County (except the cops)and it appears not in Mendocino County.

Maybe my faith will be restored? Maybe Gallegos will request the AG investigate Schectman (the U.S. AG)? Maybe Timmy Stoen will initiate a grand jury investigation on corrupt public officals in Mendocino County? Maybe officals in both counties will do something about the marijuana(and obvious corruption that goes along with it)? And maybe pigs will sprout wings and fly?

I fear the corruption has gone on so long and the amount of money involved is so great that it will never end. It will end up that all the local elected public officials (and some not elected) will be corrupted to some degree by the marijuana underground.

It's not just here. Check out the Tribune today. An employee in the Chicago PD's office took delivery of $40K of pot AT WORK. Giuliani's South Carolina campaign manager had to step down because of a coke bust., and he was a Ravenel, no less. Drugs are so much a part of the fabric of American life I don't think anything would surprise me.

Well,it does seem to be the kids of all the alternative lifestyle pioneers, and even the locals, who have decided to go for the big bucks. Big gows, big trucks, plastic surgery for the girlfriend and wild weekends in Las Vegas is the order of the day in the HumCo youth scene. Who needs a college education? Go for it!
