Boxer, or the Black Guy?
This You Tube video of Barbara Boxer has been making its rounds in the blogosphere this morning. Most of the comments I've seen say Boxer is being condescending toward the black gu. I suppose she could seem a bit condescending, but I kind of think the black guy blows things out of proportion- more than he should of given the situation.
What say you?

It's debatable. What would certainly have been condescending, though, is if she'd referred to National Black Chamber of Commerce President Harry C. Alford as nothing but "the black guy."
I side with Mr.Alford.It was lame of her to throw the NAACP in there.
I think it would be somewhat condescending to think that Alford would be impressed simply because it was the NAACP, as if just because they're an organization of colored folks he should agree with them.
That said, he is the head guy of the BLACK Chamber of Commerce, or some such, so it's not like his organization doesn't include race in it. I just think he got a bit carried away with the show of anger.
"...as nothing but "the black guy.".
Well, I suppose. Some people are often touchy about such things.
Not too long ago I was up in the skies over Aces High, playing my fighting game. There was some back and forth between a couple of players on opposing sides, with one of them taking offense at something the other guy said. I can't remember exactly what it was that offended him except that I didn't find it at all offensive in the context of the conversation. It had something to do with race, though.
So, I piped in (this was text messaging) and asked the guy (game id was VonKrimm), "So I take it you're a negro, Von Krimm?".
He found that offensive, too. He just went on about how he didn't respond to racist comments, and so forth.
So, negro is a racist term? Whatever. Some people seem like they look forward to being offended.
Typical liberal condescension. Barbara Boxer is an idiot. But you must address her as "senator" because she's earned it. I vote for "the black guy". He was great.
"Some people seem like they look forward to being offended."
And some people either go out of their way to offend, or are offensively ignorant. I'm guessing that Fred went out of his way.
No Carson, IMO you have gone out of your way to be rude. My support for Boxer was very strong for so many years it was hard to count. But, I am tremendously disappointed by her lately. What I saw on the YouTube, was condescending, elitist, smacked of racism and was an embarrassment. I am not saying that she is a racist or condescending, elitist etc, but what she said was. If this is a gross mistake on her part, then she should say she judged things wrong and move on. If not, then she should move on, right out of the senate. The man was trying to make a point and it was embarrassing to try to use the NAACP resolution to in anyway contradict what he was saying. It was meant to convey that the NAACP (another black political entity) disagreed to the findings of the speaker and his group.
What is the problem with saying it didn't work, she's sorry and move on. The problem seems to be 1) an inability to admit she was wrong in doing it the way she did and 2) that the stimulus package is truly working as planned right now.
Just a thought.
I was referring to Fred's goofy post header and his Borat-like response to Ryan Burn's comment, but rant on Anonymous.
CPR, can you enlighten us in a non-hostile, open and intelligent manner, why anyone who critcises you in any manner "rants?"
You say: "And some people either go out of their way to offend, or are offensively ignorant. I'm guessing that Fred went out of his way." Ok, so your only response to Fred's post is that he is being intentionally offensive. Hate to break it to you dude, but there are a lot of folks responding to this faux pas by Boxer in a much stronger manner. Fred gave her the benefit of the doubt. I was not so generous, but since I like Barbara and have voted for her for so many years, I lost count, I thought she should just say "sorry" my bad, and move on.
If your response at 1:38 is indicative of how you respond to criticism generally, it must suck to be your co-workers (or your wife for that matter.)
I'm sorry that Anonymous cannot read and comprehend:
"...anyone who critcises you in any manner 'rants?'"
Anonymous confuses himself with "anyone."
"...your only response to Fred's post is that he is being intentionally offensive..."
I was referring to Fred's response to the comment from Ryan Burns. I was not referring to Fred's post.
"Hate to break it to you dude..."
It is unlikely that Anonymous could "break" anything to me. In fact, if he received his education at public expense, we should ask for our money back.
The anonymous poster who calls himself the Carson Park Ranger has driven readers away from his blog with his condescending words and his foolish attitude of superiority toward others.
He expects us common folks (regular U.S. citizens) to either agree that he is the sole source of human knowledge and wisdom, or else back out of his throne-room with our hats in our hands, bowing deeply and begging him to forgive us our effrontery in holding and expressing any idea different from his own.
In his own mind, he is King of the World. Yet as I write these words, no one else on earth believes it.
