New Arcata Eye Site
I just noticed the Arcata Eye has an updated and redesigned web site. I like the way they did it.
There's a couple articles you might want to read right now. One, about how much District Attorney Paul Gallegos likes himself. Another, on the new local magazine, Savage Henry, that some local writers are putting together.
Well done!

It's really great to see it up and running! Very nice.
Not to be negative about certain newspapers and their business decisions, but I have a couple of items of constructive criticism. I will try to be brief and to the point without exaggerating.
MARQUEE across the top? Are they tripping? What other respectable website has a marquee? CNN's trademark is their marquee going across the bottom of the screen all the time. Look at CNN's website. See a marquee? Heck no. Nobody in their right mind does a marquee on a website. Looks like a bad myspace widget.
The dude they had do their website is such a internet wizard that his own website says "Copyright 2009" like he has it set up so he has to manually change it every year... but has been so on the ball that he forgot for the last two months.
Right down to the messed up search thing. Even the wording for the search sucks... "Search & Hit Enter" Great instructions. Did dude who wrote this speak Hindi as their first (and only) language?
Seriously, wtf? To top it off, this dude is from Orange County. What about the locals? Half the folks in the phone book under "internet" are better than this.
Once again the Eye has proven themselves to be wack. Why the community supports them is beyond me. They take their money to SoCal to have some snowjob of a website done, why should locals spend money on the Eye?
Funny thing for me is all these bloggers did a better job for free by switching up a couple of prefab templates.
This is a much more convincing reason for not buying the Eye than anything Robo said.
Hey! I like reading the Eye.
I like the Eye website and I thank you for bringing it to my attention, Fred.
I secretly read it too, Fred. If I didn't, I wouldn't point out what is annoying on the new format.
Errrr I mean boo, Leyes.
