You Guys Suck!
Rather bizarre My Word column in today's Times- Standard, isn't it? No specifics, but the guy says he's running, rather than walking, as he leaves Humboldt County. Something about what jerks we are but he doesn't say why.
I have no way of proving it but I suspect he's one of those types that doesn't have much good to say about anyone and likely has problems with people everywhere he goes. If that be the case, I say good riddance.

I found it weird that he didn't point out specifics. Don't let the door hit you on the Butt on your way out!
One should never eat sour grapes while burning down bridges and advancing a career. Especially if your resume includes:
"More than 20 years experience raising significant revenue for local, regional and national nonprofit organizations.
Creative, articulate and results-driven not-for-profit professional. Mission-focused. Specialize in project strategy, implementation, oversight and evaluation. Top negotiator. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Attention to detail. Consensus builder among multiple decision makers from diverse backgrounds. Culturally-competent. Excellent motivator. Identifies paid and volunteer talent and develops people. Commitment to building and sustaining healthier and engaged communities."
...Nice communication, consensus building, commitment, and, of course, the sharpest of rebukes to your community shortly after leaving. Without specifics, was it an axe to grind... or perhaps the dreary weather?
The way I figure is that he just didn't meet us.
Ernie with the way you talk about the Native Americans its not surprising this individual would feel uncomfortable and feel the need to leave the community for their own safety.

You must be mistaken me for somebody else. I have nothing but the most respect and admiration for The Indian people. I even sign my name to everything that I say. The only people that bug me are anonymous shit-disturbers.
I have lived here 20 years and am leaving too. Would have left earlier except for the housing market. We plan to be gone by early 2012. The reasons are long but are reduced to pot, crime and lack of real and legal economic opportunities.

I'm truly sorry to see you go, and I fully understand your reasons. Jobs are a major reason that people leave Humboldt.
I have lost over 20 friends who moved from HumboLdt over the last 8 years all were employed. They left due to crime and mismanagement. They have moved all over the state and out of state and are much happier. We are on the wrong track.
