Romney's N.H. Win

I was watching the NBC Nightly News last night. I got the impression news anchor Brian Williams was relieved that he could declare Mitt Romney the winner in the New Hampshire primary. Maybe it's just me?

Addendum: Interesting headline from Yahoo's news story on last night: "...GOP Comes to Grips with His Inevitability". At least some of those commenting on the story are a bit offended by what seems to be the media telling them who they should vote for.

Of course he seemed relieved, with the other option being the win of a Catholic zealot. But will the Mormon be any different in re-establishing religious order in America?

Going to be interesting in South Carolina with 10 days until they vote. Cable news has started reporting about Bain and their buying companies and splitting them up and taking the cash much like PL and Hurwitz. The words corporate raider are now being used which is what Bain was. Romney became a multi millionaire with that corporation. South Carolina has high unemployment so might not like a corporate raider. This seems to be more like who can beat Obama than who can run the country.

There's certainly a lot of that within any party. Many just want to win.

I think with most of the media it's more that they want a simple, statist type candidate- someone that's easy for them to understand and doesn't take a lot of thinking to report on.

They seem to be, as expected, downplaying Ron Paul's 2nd place finish (no, I don't think Paul has any chance of winning) and boosting Huntsman a little now. Huntsman being what seems to be another easy to report on guy.

I think most news folks are more comfortable with a horse race between Hunstman and Romney.

Romney has been the onointed one by the fat cats from the very start. All of the spikes and flops in the polls by the other candidates has just been flash in the pan to make Romney's ultimate success seem credible.

Being a sceptical person, I wonder how much is media manipulation?

As sad as it is, Donald Trump is the only person that seems to have a true handle on what's wrong with America. Plus, he is the only one that has make any statements about how to correct the problems.

Every candidate talks about the ecconomy and jobs, but they never mention how they would achieve that goal. Trump talks about tariffs on those that don't play fair. And, how to encourage American investment.

Trump is a business man, and he prides himself on his success in reaching his goals. The average politician only concerns him/herself with keeping their campaign coffers full.

It sure seems like that to me. Hard to say how much is media manipulation but it sure seems to me they have their favorites. At what point in the media ladder those preferences are decided is the interesting question.

That is so true Fred. As an author and business man, I can relate to how you said "At least some of those commenting on the story are a bit offended by what seems to be the media telling them who they should vote for". I hope more people discover your blog because you really know what you're talking about. Can't wait to read more from you!

Ernie is right about Trump. Trump stated on a cable channel before Iowa vote when asked what he might do he said that depending on who gets the votes in caucus states he might enter the race as it would not be too late.

He would not have the issue of name recognition that some of the candidates have and if he came up with an actual plan and it sounds like he has one could certainly get votes. He has also been down financially and knows how to come back even stronger so he might be able to do that for the country too. I would vote for him and right now in looking at the candidates I might have to toss a coin to choose since no one seems to have a plan but just talks jobs which is a little odd for Romney as he did away with many jobs so he knows how to do that but may not know how to create a job.
