Animals Attacking

There's a fun read in the Lost Coast Outpost about a guy in Whitethorn's goat getting attacked by a mountain lion last month. Story includes some photos of what might be the mountain lion in question.

Here's one of those fascinating, once in a lifetime, pictures of an eagle taking down a deer. I would have never thought it possible, but the story says there's even a record of an eagle taking down a brown bear cub.

it might have been a fun read but I doubt it was a fun experience

I can't imagine wandering around out there, especially looking after a goat herd, without some sort of weapon nearby. Apparently that fellow didn't have anything.

I was a caretaker on a ranch in Maple Creek for a year back in the 70s. I always carried a 22 pistol with me when out and about. Never had to use it, but it's good insurance.

Yes, for white people who are afraid of animals. My friend Ellen a most unpresuming older woman opened the door of her cabin to be greeted by a large black bear wanting to get in. She told the bear to go away and it did. She has no guns and has lived in the woods alone for decades. She has no need of weapons for animals. Human beings..now that's a different story..
