Primary Election Results

Unlike the last time I brought this up, I think I have it right this time in that we did have a primary election earlier this week. I'm still interested in the results, especially in regards the 3rd party vote in Humboldt County. I'm still disappointed in trying to find those results.

I see the Times- Standard seems to have continued their tradition of reporting only on the results of candidates from the two major parties at least from the brief look I took a little while ago (they once included Bonnie Neely's results in a Board of Supes race when she ran unopposed, but ommitted libertarian Kevin Bastian's numbers when he he ran for congress). For better or worse, the Sacramento Bee came through with an interactive form where you can select the races you want results from, by candidate and by location- county or state. I'm not sure it works very well.

According to that page, assuming I entered the criteria right, Clinton got 55.8% of the vote in Humboldt with Sanders getting only43.2%. I'm surprised at that as I expected Sanders to do better here. Regardless, the authoritarian vote came out on top either way.

I am also surprised that Trump go75.3% of the vote, although I realize partisan loyalties might be a bigger factor here than elsewhere. Most republicans I know vote for their party regardless of any issues involved.

Funny that when I requested results for the Libertarian Party's Gary Johnson, I get a message that no new contests were added since I already viewed the races with that information. How did I manage that? I'll just chalk it up to a status quo viewpoint of the Sacramento Bee staff.

In fairness to the Bee, I haven't been able to get numbers for Johnson even from the Libertarian Party's, National Facebook page.

Oh, well. No biggie, I suppose. He wasn't going to win anyway.

Sorry, my bad. I read the wrong column.

Sanders: 67.18%

Clinton: 30.61%

The previous stats were only for vote-by-mail. The ones in this comment are total votes by all methods.

My sister(in Encinitas,CA) voted for Bernie. There is alot more awareness of the Libertarian party and third party candidates in general nowadays. So, maybe the time will be right for a Libertarian in the 2020 election.

Progressives are saying the same sort of thing... Nader got meager results. Sanders got 45% nationwide. And the next progressive will finally have majority support within his/her party.

The funny thing is, polling has Sanders winning against Trump, and Clinton losing against Trump. Clinton has virtually no support among conservatives and independents, while Sanders has significant (enough) support from those two groups.

The only reason Sanders has some support from "conservatives" is a result of their hatred for Clinton.....those same closed minded conservatives and independents would vote Libertarian or Republican in a General. I thought you knew that?

Don Kings organization selected a Trump/Sanders ticket.

Hillary did not win anything. Hillary has not reached the delegate total on the popular vote. She is about a hundred shy.

Too bad public education is a sham, a conspiracy "not to educate the students on politics at a young age........unless it's inconsequential shit like Washington in a boat crossing a river or Lincoln getting shot in the head.

The closest reality of fact was states rights issues, but face Iit, the processes and explanation of party politics was devoid intentionally because of the corruption by those running education.

California is a closed primary isn't it?

Independents could not vote for Bernie.

Humboldt voters are in decline, leaving the authoritarian tapers and shoulder rubbers left over to vote. Results are in line with the majority of stupid fucks.

Wow! Thanks for the link. Much to my surprise, Gary Johnson seems to have gotten the most votes by mail and in the precints- both coming in at over 40%, with Green Party's, Jill Stein only getting 41.46%. Not what I would have expected.

H.O.J., these electronic devices can be very frustrating at times! What I have found is after I post a comment, I get out of Fred's blog. If I don't, it will post my comment again. Then I have to delete my duplicate comment by pressing"delete"next to"reply". Then I have to enlarge the minute print at the top and press delete again on that page. It will delete the extra comment. Another idea is go to the wireless section of any store and consult with a young person, ha,ha. Maybe someone else has an idea?

Sally, on iPad, when I hit comment, a new tab opens. After I submit comment, the comment page appears, which I close like we do any normal page. Now I'm back at Fred's blog, but have to hit refresh to see if my post posted.

All I have to use is this phone as I don't have a computer or tablet. My brother and sister have offered to build me a computer, but right now I don't want to pay for internet service. Anyway, this is a Coolpad Rogue 4G. It is very affordable, with unlimited talk, text and web. So far,(since November 2015) it's worked well, With the Walmart Family Mobile plan I do receive a $5.00/month discount. Anyway, guess every device functions a little differently. One thing I've noticed the computers at work--when it says we're getting an update that really means"expect trouble" !

It does not matter what we buy in a disposable world. It used to be back in the day that consumer proud ts "lasted because of quality".

Then, churning and yearning for more earnings, business built stuff with less quality in mind nbecause some genius educated person figured good economics was :more economics created by building flaws into the products that keep the customers coming back foe more, especially when society is shifted and forced into dependencies of survival. First, it was the wants (simple but pleasurable products), then expansion paths consumer base, then transportation to link industry to consumer, etc....

Heck, even before understanding economics, HOJ learned in real life that a restaurant commercial or magazine ad showing a plate of food never translated as such for real onsite........and so prices go up, proportions get smaller, and no longer can a carton of eggs be compared to itself between then and now, because even eggs jive been "hybridized through genetic engineering" Monsanto style. No longer are costs of society comparable because society always seems to change, and change often "covers up" what was better in the past.

Moral of reality: less for more, more for less.

Follow the money.
