The Trump Speech
No, I hadn't actually planned on watching it. After all, what's the point in listening to a carefully scripted speech? Okay, I suppose there is some entertainment value. But I laid down on the couch yesterday evening to watch the Channel 3 News- the local stuff. I quickly fell asleep only to wake up some time later to find Donald Trump yelling at me. I figured what the heck. Probably not much else on and, since a friend in Redding seems a die hard Trump supporter, maybe I could find a few things to change her mind. I wasn't impressed, although I nearly always enjoy a good speaker no matter what side of the aisle they're from. Libertarian though I may be, I didn't mind his anti- immigrant rants. It's probably about time someone brought that up. I did notice one thing: During the entire speech he never mentioned freedom or liberty once. And it wasn't just me. After the speech was over, one of the news folk/commentators that were covering the speech pointed out those used to be key words used by right wing candidates regularly during campaign speeches but they were noticeably absent from Trump's speech. I might consider that Trump left them out deliberately as those on the left find the concepts of liberty, and probably even the word, frightening, but I don't think he's sophisticated enough to think that deeply into it. Besides, when has Trump ever seemed to be concerned about alienating anyone with what he says? I did see the omission as a sign of his mindset, though, which suggests he wouldn't be any more mindful, if at all, about preserving American freedom than Clinton. There's no doubt of that. As I see it, Trump is pretty much like Clinton: He's in it for himself just as she is for herself.

I think you are wrong. Trump is going to create more freedom for americans . He is not just fighting for himself, infact he is probably goinf to create huge backlash against his brand name globably, if he doesnt live up to be a good president he will loose billions. Think of it obama didnt have a brand name worth anything before he became president. If trump messes up his familys name then there goes his hotel empire because the world will boycott it and the owners of the buildings will wants to drop trumps name from everything. Trump has already lost a lot of money while running for president. I think he truly is trying to turn this country around. He is alot better option then lieing Hillary who is responsible for the migrant crisis in Europe and the rise of isis. Remember Hillary is directly responsible for arming isis and letting them get there hands on America weapons that are used to fight against our interests.
Thank you, anonymous 8:52AM.I agree completely with everything you said. Donald Trump sincerely wants to help make our country better. He doesn't need the job. He was raised by his dad, Fred, and mom, Mary, to value what's important in life. Family, working class people, our military, people who need a hand up, to name a few. He sees all the problems and feels he can make improvements.
Trump is an idiot who will never be President.
Trump is all over the map, flip flopping to be right twice a day like a clock.
Freedom doesn't steal money from citizens to pay for PP, non gender bathrooms, regulatory agencies, and the handful of other big clues that show that freedom is only a sound byte, not a concept, for politicians like Trump & Johnson, bot liberals to the core.
Trump said that sometimes the constitution needs to be ignored, even called it a suicide pact. (60 minutes interview)
I'm sticking with Darrell Castle, who honors the constitution in every way. It's good hearing others agreeing about Castle, like Phil Williams & his guests. Phil is still researching, but at least he's doing that instead of drinking the cult kool-aid.

I half agree with you Julie... Trump is an idiot. But as to becoming President... I admit to being a bit nervous on the subject.
One of the easiest cards to play against Liberty is the Security Card. He promises to keep us all safe and get the trains running on time again. And he has people believing in him and his message.
I mean, the man can rail against elitist corporate America... with a straight face. And no one calls him on it. After all, Trump is the essence of the Elitist and Corporate face of America.
My faith in the commonsense virtue of our people is diminishing rapidly.
I just came back from a medical appointment. I picked up a magazine in the waiting area and someone had drawn on an April issue of People with Trump's photo on the cover. They'd drawn a Hitler mustache on him. Did a good job, too,
Our country is facing severe challenges. We need a stable and strong leader who will improve life for ALL Americans. Donald Trump is the only viable candidate. He is funny, very smart, successful, generous and a great parent. The primary was the time to vote third party. Now, a vote for anyone but Trump, is a vote for Hillary Clinton. That would mean 8 more years of Obama type status quo.
You poor soul, stay anonymous.
Sally, The Donald is for himself first, then the country.......that is how most Americans act
.....country is subordinate to personal successes.......
Trump is a liar too, just like the white woman running for president.
Two gender correct white liars running for top dawg in politics.......ya, that has gotta bern.
Trump is a con man, no different than local politicians left, right, straight up, sideways, up your ass, down your throat......the epidemic is uber, it is ubiquitous, it is everywhere.
HOJ pulls a Jim Neighbors line, "Surprise, surprise, surprise".
American voters in majority are....
FUCKED IN THE HEAD BRAINDEAD IDIOTS WHO DESERVE THEIR MISERY FOR VOTING TWO PARTY SYSTEM.
STUPID MOTHER FUCKERS EVERYWHERE!
Was his stache heart shaped like Hillary's vjj?
There is no viable candidate being pc'ed by the two party system.
Trump is a con, just like Hillary.
The president is a do nothing job title.
The president is only a spokesperson with limited powers and authorities, but lately, executive orders have transformed the role of president to that of a dictator/authoritarian.
Trump aint gonna do jack shit to transform Humboldt County into a better place to live, but Trump surely will ignore the politics in Humboldt because he ain't running for supervisor or council.
The feds are the least impising government on our daily lives, but locals are so disillusioned in thinking local politics is fixed by national politics.
People in Humboldt are overly clueless on politics and are voting in people who are hurting us.
