That Pearl Harbor Thing
The Santa Rosa Press- Democrat has a nice touchy, feely story on the Japanese Prime Minister's visit to Pearl Harbor with President Obama. They covered it on the TV news last night, too. Nothing wrong with that but it bugs me they lost the chance to point out President Roosevelt knew of the impending attack but let it proceed as an excuse to get us into World War 2.
I know. Some will say it's just another conspiracy theory but more and more I'm hearing we had broken the Japanese codes so knew what was going to happen. Americans need to know about this sort of deception that's likely been used pretty much since the country was founded to lure us into war.
If nothing else, maybe the silence by media in this regard shows they're more than willing to take part in such deceptions?

The sliming of FDR has long been discredited by competent historians.
I'm hearing more and more that he knew. Saw a documentary on TV the other night that was quite convincing that he knew.
Don't turn to conspiracy theories when incompetence suffices as an explanation.
The let-it-happen theory has been debunked, and has been the subject of 10 official inquiries, no less.

As for seeing a documentary on TV, I can show you documentaries on TV about ancient aliens building the pyramids, and all manner of other nuttiness. There is no longer any pretense about shoveling crap on TV and presenting it as if it might be true, or as if there is even serious debate on an issue.
*cough* I might also point to climate change, with our news media always trying to tell 'the other side' of an issue even if the other side is comprised of less than 0.5% of the people who are knowledgeable about the issue.
In climate change's case, you cling to fossil fuel-funded sources telling you it's bogus. In the case of Pearl Harbor conspiracy theories, it's simply advertising revenue. They make ever-more-sensational 'documentaries' and people watch, and more money is made.
All of this falls under the broad umbrella of fake news. Be more skeptical of the news sources that purport to be skeptical themselves. There is big money in convincing people there are dark forces at work.

I think Ancient Aliens presents compelling evidence of prior contact with Earth by aliens. You can call it nutiness, but then you'll have to explain construction of huge stone structures we'd be taken to task to build with modern technology today.
Never mind various drawings and stone carvings the ancient people made that look very much as we'd expect aliens and their spacecrafts to be seen in the eyes of ancient folks. Explanations for much of that stuff is difficult, if not impossible, to explain otherwise.

Including the unfinished ones that are still in their quarry?
The ones that were rolled into place on logs and tipped into holes dug under their base?
Or are you talking about the Egyptian pyramids which were built by ramping dirt up along one side as the height grew?
We couldn't build dinky little things like that today with our modern construction equipment?
Here's a hint, Fred. If people are telling you that you're off in tinfoil hat territory pay attention to them. They're probably telling you stuff for your own good.

That's a generally accepted theory, but I don't recall seeing all that many trees on Easter Island to make rollers out of.

FDR would have been thrilled to death to know in advance of the attack on Pearl Harbor and be ready for it.
A sneak attack against the US would have produced the same result, regardless of whether we got our hinders handed to us or if we handed their hinders to them: The US involved militarily in WWII.
Whatever you think of FDR: He wasn't stupid. "Letting" the Japanese bomb Pearl Harbor would put the American war fighting effort seriously behind. Why do that when a military victory surrounding Pearl Harbor would provide the same benefit?
So on it's face it's nonsense. But when one over-analyses the mistakes made the tendency is to then fit the "facts" into the narrative one is pushing... instead of the accepted method of taking the facts as a whole and building a narrative on the facts.

I'm going to hate myself for getting involved in the ancient alien thing:
Easter Island has almost no trees NOW. Back when people first arrived the island was heavily forested. But the people chopped all the trees down for building materials and other such needs and didn't pay attention to the environmental catastrophe they were creating.
The island's forests couldn't survive the overuse and are now gone. An environmental lesson for us all.

That is a good point. He'd still have his war but might have saved a bit more of the U.S. fleet. I hadn't thought of it like that.

Well, since you show interest, the USA has never gone back to the moon after twice landing objects into the moon and recording a "hollow sound".
China has already mapped the light side of the moon, just finished.
Next is dark side.
Soon, we will know some facts about the surface that will lead to discovery of a space station inside the moon.
USA knows, but not China yet.

Response: Thought that was sand and the "pull the drain effect" to put stones into place, watching sand displace from top to bottom like an "hour glass chamber".
