It's Over

The election that is, unless any recounts are asked for.

I was thinking of not even bringing up the subject as I often take an almost perverse pleasure in avoiding what everyone else is talking about on a given day. Well, a lot of the time, anyway.

But, I felt I had to bring it up if for no other reason than to rag on everyone who was telling us the way everything would end up. This goes to show most of us don't know what we're talking about. Sure, some of you ended up right, but it wasn't because you had acquired any inside wisdom. You were just lucky...this time.

Maybe this will teach some of us to just shut up and wait for the results to be released next time?
********

The only question I have is whether Bonnie Neely and Nancy Flemming will kiss and make up now?

Yes, Bonnie and Nancy should kiss. I second that motion.

I third that motion and demand they put the video on youtube.

Once certified, there is a five days window in which to request a recount. From coverage in the papers, it seems La Vallee has ruled it out, though Kuhnel is hedging. It will be interesting to see if the progressives accept their defeat or pressure for a recount. Whichever happens, the whining from the left will be deafing for the next few weeks.

greg - the losers (LaVallee, Wolford and/or Flemming) should not be appointed to a 2-year remaining City Council position.

They would have to be elected again in 2008.

It's funny how everyone sees this race as "the progressives" and "the republicans." People in the two groups may know each other, but they all run their own campaigns. It's not a question of whether "the progressives" will seek a recount. We're dealing with individual candidates. Step out of your world of conspiracies for once.

Fred, Im sorry! These women are just having an effect upon me. All of this tension is finally being released!

At 11:05 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Hasn't Mostranski hinted that he doesn't accept the final results and may ask for a recount? If so, would that also qualify as "whining?"

At 11:48 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I'm sorry Fred but frankly I am assuming you are talking about the Times-Standard announcing THE CORRECT winners. For all the bullshit you and the rest of the bloggers put out there THEY WERE RIGHT. They weren't lucky, they made a good decision on what I am assuming was a tight deadline. I am convinced that nobody else in this realm is prepared to congratulate them so to them — thanks.

No. I was referring to all the back and forth that went on in the blogosphere with one side or the other claiming the votes would be going their way, or their candidate was the one that would eventually win.

As far as any of the papers making early calls, I still think it was too early to be declaring winners when counts are that close. No big deal. Happens all the time. You wouldn't catch me doing that, though.

Hmm, would that be one of those "perverse pleasures" you often take?

i think bonnie should knock nancy out....for being a stuck up bitch

What's funny is the 11:00AM post ridiculous assessment that each individual campaign ran non-partisan. What a simplistic, moronic assessment. OF COURSE it is individual races, however, don't be fooled into thinking it isn't the "Left" against the "Right." Every race pitted the left versus the right. The only true interesting "fact" was that the left, who ran on the platform of "political change" argued against "change" (Marina Center, etc.) The right who fought against "political change," i.e., Wolford, Jones, Leonard ran on the platform of changing Eureka and revitalizing the waterfront. Who are the real progressives?

One last note. That Kerrigan and Associates group really knows their stuff, don't they? What, one win (glass) one huge defeat (La Vallee) one slap to the face (Neely.) If Neely did nothing she would have won by a larger margin.

At 3:41 PM, Blogger Eric V. Kirk said...

But Neely won.

At 3:54 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

11:05, I don't know where you heard that garbage from--not from me that is for sure. I, accept the final results. We ran a very professional race and came so close---closer than you all thought we would and 11:05--I am not a whiner, never have been and never will, just a Sag who looks for the good things in life. Heck, after 2 campaigns and 8 months I finally will have some free time on my hands---maybe I will find a gal and enjoy the other pleasures in life other than politics---then again--maybe not.....

Fred:

There's final and then there's final. Elections found another 45 absentee ballots today that hadn't even been opened. Bass picked up 10 of these votes to La Vallee's 4 making the new winning victory of Bass over La Vallee - 65. Totals are now Bass 4210 / La Vallee - 4145. Certification is expected Monday.

Douglas resides at 917 3rd Street, Suite E in Eureka.

At 5:56 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Anon 4:52 and 5:14 are the same person. Probably barbara shults, kaitlin, or any number of anti-free speech proponents.

Douglas does not reside at that address, that is his business address. His home address is none of your business.

Also, this qualifies as slander and is an outright fabrication. Also, Douglas does NOT have a hitler like moustache AND he would be extremely easy for the police to find if he did indeed do something like this, which he would never do.

My concern is that Shults who is currently in litigation with Douglas is doing everything she can to ruin Douglas's character and reputation as a journalist.

I wonder if the reason I was attacked after making my first post on Fred's blog was because I have been known to keep the company of Charles. In fact, I find Charles to be very pleasant company and consider him a friend.

At 11:50 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Charles Douglas resides with Xandra Manns and is using her address as his home address. You know Charles, Xandy may be naive but she is not senile. She is a honest person and eventually will see you for the person you really are. So you should return the non-profit paperwork you stole from her the binder in her home. It sure did not leave a good impression.

Shut up Barbara! Or do we need to behead a chicken in your honor?

At 5:05 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Why would Barbara stop now? Her physical assault already cost her an office, a restraining order and any credibility she had left in the community. Maybe next time the cops will show up and put her in a muzzle with her precious dogs.

Documentation beats conversation.

Charles we know you are afraid of dogs.

Charles Douglas lives in his office at 917 3rd Street in Eureka. Not with Xandra Manns.

It's too bad , Neely had to win . It's more free needles and so called "help" for our local junkies so they can stay well enough to rob from our neighborhoods again . Droz and Flemming would of did everything to keep these low - lifes from getting another free needle again . The good lose and the jerks win . Blah , Blah , Blah......it's the same ole' stuff ! At lest , Wolford lost - she's another supporter of bringing more misfits into Eureka . Just hope Mr. Glass doesn't start working for the R.C.A.A.

In the TS today, Larry and Chris want to spend $30,000 plus on a special election. We can't pay cops enough to keep them here but these two three year olds can't accept the slate lost and lets keep the termoil going rather than getting on with the business of healing. They are such cry babies.

It's soooo tiresome. Kerrigan and his handlers still think their stunts will work. "Give me a council that will agree with me!!!!" (such brio) now it's "Send me anyone who doesn't agree with her."

So much for the business of the City. Let the games continue Chris...you have really become an embarrassment.
