Humboldt Salad Bars
I tend to get hungry for salads in the summertime. Had a craving for a salad the other day and actually, since it has been sometime since I've stopped by any salad bars in Eureka, I found myself stumped as to where I might go.
Only two salad bars came to mind: Carl's Jr, at Victoria Place in Eureka, except last time I was there they stopped doing the salad bar. It wasn't a big one, but there was enough there to satisfy my salad cravings.
The Sizzler restaurant, in north Eureka, was probably the best one. They even had a make- your- own- taco section with it. Haven't been there in some time. Is Sizzler still there and offering their salad bar?
I never take notice when I drive by there. Anyone know of any other salad bars around that aren't too expensive and offer a lot of variety?

Arctic Circle's salad bar trumps Carl's Junior.
In terms of cleanliness, I have to go with Hometown Buffet. Hate the restaurant, but it has a well-tended salad bar.
Babetta's is decent.
Some of the local pizza places have a salad bar but nothing to write home about.
Mazzottis makes the best house salad in town though.
Carl's Jr. produced the TV ad that featured Paris Hilton.
I thought you all might want to remember that.
Bear River Casino in south Eureka!
South Eureka?

Does Carl's Jr. even offer a salad bar anymore? Last time I went there it didn't have one, but I haven't been in there for years.
Now that you mention it, seems to me I've had a couple people rave about Arctic Circle's salad bar before. I'll have to give it a try.
As an aside, best salad bar I think I've ever eaten from was the one at the mess hall for the mobilization center at Fort Dix, New Jersey. That one must have been 20 or 30 feet long and offered just about every thing imaginable.
I regularly did the salad bar for lunch and dinner. There'd be a couple hundred guys in the chow line and, rather than stand in line and take a chance on what was on the menu, I'd sign the meal roster and slip under the rope barricade and just pile my plate with stuff from the salad bar.
About the only problem with that was I then went from the best salad bar I'd ever been at, to a place with NO salad bars: Saudi Arabia.
I read about someplace called Firebase Dragon that supposedly had a top notch salad bar but I never made it there. Where we stayed, vegetables were rare- fresh green ones, anyway. I really missed the salad bars while I was in Saudi.
The Sea Grill has an excellent salad bar, and while it might be a buck or two above some of the other restaurants it's not as expensive as you might think. It's a deal actually for what you get.
The Pickle Barrel in old town has one, as does the new Co-Op. Both are good. But at Sizzler you get that yummy cheese toast.
The Fresh Choice restaurant chain has the best salad bar. It is monstrously long, like, say, five times longer than that pitiful thing at Sizzler's. After eating the salad, you don't have room for anything else. It's big enough to have two full-time attendants tending it from the inside (U shaped).
Mazzotti's house salad is good, but pales in comparison to Arcata Pizza and Deli. Everything APD does is over-the-top.
HomeTown Buffet has a salad bar
I second Eric's statement, the Sea Grill has a damn good salad bar,and it's very affordable.Marie Callender's had one as well, tried it a few years ago,but not since, and I haven't been there in a while so I don't know for sure if they still have it.
the sea grill, my favorite salad bar in town, hands down. biggest and best
Sizzler-Hometown-Angelos-Big Louies-Babbeta's.
Fred, next time you feel like a salad, call me. I will take you to a lunch. And it will be a buffet!
Carls Jr. and Sizzler? White Trash.
Let's see....
If you want something other than pesticide-covered iceberg lettuce, try these:
The Eureka Co-op...
Eureka Natural Foods...
Wildberries...
Arcata Co-op
High- end Sea Grill, low-end Arctic Circle. By the wa, have you tried Isidro's Taco's since they moved to Henderson Center.? I swear the food has improved 100% and I will be back.
I had a gay roommate years ago who educated me that gays don't appreciate the policies that old man Karcher supported before his passing. Haven't been to a Carl's since, haven't missed it.

No I haven't, but I've been planning to. Main thing holding me up is parking right around there. Sometimes there's too many cars and I'm nearly always pulling a trailer so need more space.
Where is Isidro's?
I couldn't find them in the phone book.
In Henderson Center, on Grotto Street between D and E streets. Next to the barbershop.
I don't really like salad bars, as the food could be out too long and exposed to germs. However, I will have a salad bar experience at Ferndale Pizza (they keep it fresh) and Hunan's in Fortuna has Chinese Chicken Salad.

You're probably thinking of "Dave" of Wendy's.
