Thunder and Lightning
This is fun sitting here with the thunder and lightning flashing outside. At first I thought the thunder was someone starting his car. I kind of hope it keeps going, even though it is a little bit scary.
A couple times when the lightning flashed, it reminded me of transformers blowing up and I had to wonder what I was going to do with myself should the power go out. I suppose I could always go back to bed.

Great storm action this morning. Thunder, lightening and hail!
People come in two flavors ... those who are fascinated by thunder and lightning, and those who are terrified of it.
It can be the real wrath of God at times.
Indeed, but it looks like it's over now.
I always find it a bit scary, but fascinating.
One thing that worried me about it this morning is the ground cable that goes to the fuse box on my house isn't grounded.
I cut it accidentally with a hedge trimmer a couple years ago while trimming some bushes and never got around to fixing it. I mentioned it to someone and they said it was only there in case of lightning.
How often do we get lightning around here? No biggie. I'll take care of it eventually.
Dang! I missed it! I LOVE thunder and lightning!
No thunder and lightning in Fortuna as of yet. I enjoy a good thunder storm and have twice endured strikes with a hundred feet of a fire engine I was riding in.
As an aside, I ocaisionally fly fish a river in eastern Oregon named the Donner und Blitzen river which translates to thunder and lightning in the German language. It is a facinating river which flows out of the Steens mountains. It is a very interesting area, Google it up when you have a minute.
Unplug your computer, and disconnect the ethernet when lightning rolls by.
I guess I fall into both of Chris Crawford's categories.
Had thunder but no lightening to be seen and it was not too loud as probably nothing close to McKinleyville
Yep, I was up at that time too. Great flashes of lightning and thunder in the Henderson Center region, as is Fred. I don't mind the thunder and lightning. OUt in the Klamath Trinity area, we used to see the lightning hitting the ridgetops around us. It was one of those "STRIKE/BOOM!" situations.
Fred asked: "How often do we get lightning around here?"
Only on the Solstices, lately, apparently... (just a gentle prodding for the conspiracy theorists out there).
