Great Johnson LTE Yesterday
This letter to the editor of the Times- Standard was one of the best I've read lately. Wouldn't you just love to meet the guy that wrote it?
I'm a Libertarian living in Humboldt County, CA. I've lived here in Eureka since 1973 and joined the Libertarian Party in 1992. This blog will mostly focus on local political issues, but I may stray into state and national issues as well, when I can't help myself. Wait Fred, are you going to "throw your vote away"?
Yes. I will be throwing my vote away to Gary Johnson.
Sweet. I throw my vote away for the Green or Peace & Freedom candidate. Obama and Romney share too many similarities for me, and neither can be trusted.
This is the best Libertarian ticket ever. Judge Jim Gray is Gary Johnson's VP and he wrote the book on America's Failed Drug War and what we need to do about it.
I worked with the judge back when he tried to unseat B-1 Bob Dornan in the O.C., that gave us Loretta Sanchez as the conservative vote was split. Still better than B-1 Bob though.
I voted for Johnson in the primary and will vote Libertarian this November as long as California isn't a close race for Obama. I dislike Romney more than I like Johnson.
Fred, what we really need here is instant runoff voting. It would allow us to vote 3rd party candidates without throwing our votes away. We also need to outlaw unverifiable paperless voting machines.
Yes, it is about as good a ticket as one could hope for a third party.
I can't see it even being close in California. Obama should win the state without even trying.
I used to support IRV but have become lukewarm about it after realizing it would likely give one side or the other more of a lock on government in a given area. Liberal states would likely become more liberal and conservative more conservative.
I don't mind throwing away my vote and if I only had to choose between Obama and Romney I'd likely just not vote, at least in the presidential race.
The only "wasted" vote is for Obamney.
