Radley Balko Goes Prime Time

Some of you might remember a post I did on traffic stops and drug dog searches back in April. That post involved an illegal traffic stop in Illinois that Radley Balko reported on.

Looks like a writer from the prime time TV show, The Good Wife, picked up on it and used most of that stop as a scene for the show. The clip even includes the issue of citizens recording police, which Balko has dealt with quite a bit. Pretty cool, someone using stuff from your blog for a TV series, huh?

There's a clip of the tv show stop on Balko's post, plus links to the original Huff video on which the clip is based. When I have more time, I'll watch the whole show.

More likely, the script writer picked up on the NEWS STORY / YOUTUBE VIDEO which was touched on by many bloggers and discussed in social media. If any blogger wants to suggest the idea was lifted from his or her blog, he'd need some compelling evidence.

Balko probably covered it first but, no matter. As long as it gets out there.

A simple google date search reveals otherwise. The video was published March 14th. Balko didn't find it until March 31th. It was covered extensively by other websites and individuals in social media long before that.

Balko was the first time I and I assume most of the rest there saw it. No biggie.

Then again, Balko pointed out the video clip also includes the issue of the cop being recorded and reacting quite strongly to it. That's something Balko has also covered quite a bit. Was that mentioned in any of the other coverage of the incident?

Another reason not to watch network TV. More evidence that there is no originality left. The only thing left is their lefty agenda which they try to pass off as entertainment.
