Democracy

So true, albeit a little over simplified since libertarians aren't represented.

Hi Fred, first post here. That's probably a true(ish) if cynical way to look at it. Is there a system of government within the 200 or so other examples we have that you prefer?

It would help if people would learn to just leave each other alone and stop attacking each other via the ballot box.

It's kinda like that question of why hasn't there been one successful libertarian government?

It shouldn't be any surprise that there hasn't been one. Why would companies want a government that holds them responsible for their failures and doesn't bail them out?

Why would law enforcement agencies want to end a drug war that siphons billions of dollars to them?

Why would any group want to give up on a system that allows them to take from another group?

The list goes on. All the libertarians are saying is stop it, and leave each other alone.

The overarching problem here is groupthink, which has become the American way. Notice how most people pick a party and then stop thinking about issues? Pick a side, black or white and start hating the other side. Hurry! Don't stand in the middle and actually look at an issue. The whole thing is absurd. "Christians" who claim to follow Jesus, but hate liberals? Obvious hypocrates and followers who shouldnt be in charge of anything. A backbone should be a requirement for leadership, not the spineless cowards who cower at the sight of power and money.

My theory is that most Americans these days are weak minded and desperate to be put in a box and labeled so that they don't have to think anymore. No convictions whatsoever.

Politics, religion, sports. All the same. Pick a side and defend it. Mindless drivel promoted by the powers that be. They want us like the communist Chinese workers that they love so much and can't get enough of.....

"Henchman Of Justice" says,

Here is an example of "Democracy" below:

Amazon.com buying closed down former grocery outlets after the "legitimate business" shuts down due to economic conditions.

Amazon.com's angle - is to deliver food to the lazy mother fuckers who live in the city who are so fricken lazy, they will call to have their groceries delivered as opposed to "going there" to shop themselves.

Yet, more reasons to shun corporate food services and buy local at any farmers market. Kick the sales transactions down to the individual who actually is hurting more financially, economically, socially than those big whigs running corporate profit scams by cornering the market shares and herding the cattle through the toll gates.

Democracy is a failure in America because America is TOO DIVERSE.

Over-population in America creates competetive conditions that are labeled as "good for business" only because of the word profit which stands to only benefit the corporate higher-ups, not the consumers or the lower rung employees.

Over-population is exaserbated by Americas immigration protocol to import cheap labor that serves the interests of the TWO PARTY SYSTEM, not the interests of everyday americans who are "suckers" to believe the leadership at any level in this country.

America is a 2 ton anvil dropping fast.

Good Luck to only the honest and respectful, everyone else deserves their sufferings to come.

Response: Also, "Why would any group want to give up on a system that allows them to take from individuals never going to be part of a group?"

Case in point, the very few groups who hijacked the Humboldt County General Plan with the aides of elected officials who are promoting the "group mentality, group thinking and groupee benefits only."

When the current supes say anything that remotely sounds like "regular ole folks are being included", what they really mean to say is the same as the last supervisorially elected board of piss ants....."they don't mean what they say because what they say is often contorted and twisted with lies, deceit, manipulation, etc...." which is why those issues of rackateering occur when certain individuals get too close to the truths and facts of those public employees and officials corruptions and frauds whom step-on-toes as compared to helping their constituents by standing-by-their-word-to-create jobs, jobs, jobs.

More false promises that 2 party system local shills believed once again, like always.

Voters can't be trusted!

I forgot about this until there was another post at LoCO to bring me back here Fred, I've checked out the site in the tiny URL. It's worth a look - I agreed with E.J. Dionne's quote which the author says is full of lies. So I probably won't be persuaded, but it will be useful to take a look when I have more time and let you know what I think if you are interested.

Leaving each-other alone is non-nonsensical. We have to have rules and laws. We can start with we should have a rule that we shouldn't murder each other for example. We can keep going until we get to rules we probably disagree with, like I think we should have rules that prevent you from using your property as you see fit if that means you are going to remove all the top soil.

I'm totally with you on the companies though. Look, there will be a lot we agree with even though I am a smart (not big) government guy.

Also, picking a party is not about group think, it is the opposite if you do it right. Listen to Thom Hartmann on this as he is not a Democrat but see's the value in joining and pulling the Democrats to the left (for lack of better word).

HOJ, just found out you ran for office while compiling election results - congrats, seriously! I think that is awesome.

Thanks DJ, and for what it is worth, you do seem much more involved (or at least seem to want to be much more involved) than so many others who support the two party system. Even though ya know our differences to an extent on party politics, it is fair and honest to point out your sincere participations, which is awesome too.

Unfortunately, we both suffer from misinformations, etc... as corroborated by the daily media coverages that skew everyday life. Local media is terrible at news, but great at propaganda coverages during elections and hot button political issues. The last election was quite telling in so far as the local media/reporters and how they flat out lied in their articles to help "swing votes" to certain candidates by way of attempts to get voters to believe misinformation. Of course, phone calls and e-mails for the corrections to those misinforming articles were denounced by the media owners who did not want to cover for their beat writers' lies and political slants (Yes, HOJ catcalled upon the likes of Jack Durham at the McKinleyville Press, Jesse Faulkner of the T-S, etc.... who seem to dig deep and low to be respected by political privileged types in so far as personal achievements having to do with their careers. Then, of course, can't forget the Hank Sims and Kym Kemps of the community who believe in exclusion and making different sets of rules for different types of people (kinda mocks and spites those who believe in freedom of speech and expression, etc... and plays to the saying of absolute power absolutely corrupts - get used to the new America as seen through the use of the internet by businesses, especially media businesses).

This is partly why HOJ writes what he writes - facts, truth and real life experiences. Too bad media has a different agenda that destroys this once greater nation by attempting to skew all the news applicable to the masses.

Sincerely,

HOJ

HOJ - I agree with some of that and disagree with others probably. We would probably have to go article-by-article to see where the agreement and disagreement lies.

I don't believe it is a good idea to have 3rd party candidates for example in National debates. Maybe for the first one if there are going to be more that 2, but until there is a record of success (either actual votes or even polling) then it is mostly noise that distracts from the main candidates I'm very sorry to say.

That is until we get a Parlimentary-like system that maybe you, Fred and I might all agree on. Then when I vote Green, say it doesn't work against my second choice - Dem. As it stands, if I vote Green in a close race, I am in effect voting Republican.
