A Eureka Gateway Sign?
What do you think? I kinda like it, but it also seems a bit copy- catish since it's a little similar to that one in Willits. I found it on this Craigslist ad. Still, it looks pretty nice.
I'm a Libertarian living in Humboldt County, CA. I've lived here in Eureka since 1973 and joined the Libertarian Party in 1992. This blog will mostly focus on local political issues, but I may stray into state and national issues as well, when I can't help myself. Please post your comments by clicking on the "comments" link at the bottom of each post. Although I do moderate comments, you need not be a registered user to post them.

It's a joke. Build a beautiful entry gate, and then once inside the gate you see decrepit buildings, scuzzy motels and tweakers. Fred, like Arcatan's, your blind to your own town's blight.
They event built a waterfront promenade so people could look away from the downtown and out into the beautiful bay, except it's not a scenic bay by a long shot. Tourists generally consider Humboldt Bay to be an eyesore.
I dunno... kinda jazz's up the overpass.
Could be worse... could be a large sign saying, "Abandon ye all hope ye who enter here."
Or coming to that over pass from the other direction: "Eureka: You've Left It."
(Does Eureka still have that "Eureka: You've Found It" slogan?"
Unbelievably ugly
I just don't understand why Eureka hasn't contacted me since I FOUND IT!, the lost Celestial Torah, gone missing for the past 3000 years! You'd think people would be pounding down the highway in droves to see the place where the Celestial Torah was rediscovered but noooo, we have a squashed McDonalds arch instead. Go figure..
