A Police State (cont.)?

Sent to me by someone via e-mail. Clicking on the picture should take you to the large version.

Nope. Didn't work. Picture was too big. Here's a link to the web page.

My experience with these type of banner images is that they often play fast and loose with the facts and often choose dubious, contested sources for their information. In other words, begin with a viewpoint, then selectively find sources that reinforce your viewpoint.

This one is slightly better in that it lists some citations, but those citations are not underneath each part of the image, so it's difficult to fact-check.

And just looking at those citations, I only see 4 I might consider to be reputable sources, but even those reputable sources must be checked, such as the Washington Post. None of them look to be original sources for the facts, just regurgitators. And cato.org? Seriously? Sigh.

That you consider the Cato Institute a disreputable source pretty much shows where you're at.

you could always get on the FBI dot gov website they give you the same statistics straight from government sources the statistics are not hard to find the government isnt making any effort to hide them and in fact there are plenty of white papers and congressional hearings where they boast about it.
