Health Insurance Update

I mentioned here earlier I received notice of some changes to my Obamacare plan and wasn't sure if my monthly premiums were going up or down come the new year.

I made my December payment of $77.01 online right at the end of November but received a letter in the mail from Anthem/ Blue Cross yesterday saying they'd yet to receive it. The letter was dated December 2. I figured that must be a mistake as I'd seen the payment posted online in my checking account. I just went up to make sure and, sure enough, the payment had been received.

I noticed they had my next month's online payment section filled out, too. The 2015 monthly premium seems to be $61.26. That's lower than it was, but they also seemed to have changed the policy a little. Time will tell how that works out. Not sure it matters since my doctor doesn't accept Obamacare policies anyway.

My sympathies to those whose premiums went up.

Why are you signed up and paying for insurance you can't use? I haven't signed up and not sure that I should.

Premiums only went up for people who had horrible insurance plans to begin with. They cost went up because their coverage was being brought up to minimum care levels.

Hang on until you can get Medicare, the single payer insurance that needs to be expanded to cover all ages, not just seniors.

I can use it at other places, just not the practice I go to. If I have a heart attack or something serious it will be helpful, to say the least. I may have to go to a different practice that accepts the insurance if I end up having to go in all the time. As it is, I pay $80 a couple times a year. That's not too bad.

Not at all. Besides, it's not for government to tell people what kind of insurance they should have. Many, if not most, of those people had plans they were happy with. They might have only been for catastrophic coverage, but that's was pretty much what they wanted and needed.

No need for a 20 year old to pay megabucks for an insurance policy with all kinds of perks they're not likely to need. Nor does a single male 25 year old need coverage for pregnancy.

Obamacare does not sell policies. It is a law. Anthem, blue cross, blue shield ect sell policies. They are to blame for the issues you are having not obamacare. Obamacare just leveled the playing field a little. I am not a fan of Obamacae, we should have single payer system.

The Idea that premiums only increased for those that had poor policies is totally false.
The great policy I had since 1984 was cancelled because of Osama care. My premium a little under $8000/year.
My deductible was $250, max out of pocket was $1800 in network or not.
Last April I was forced to get an Osama care compliant policy that cost $9650/year. With a $2000 deductible, $2000 in network out of pocket maximum, $10,000 out of network maximum.
As of Jan, my premium goes up $1634.88/year to $11,284.92/year for a single male 58 years old. Max out of pocket in network costs went from $2000 to $6350.
I am paying more for less coverage.
I have to pay for coverage that I cannot use such as birth control pills, breast pumps and children's coverage.I also have fewer choices for doctors and hospitals I can use.
I have had a 17% increase in premiums with less coverage in less than a year.
Osama care has been a complete disaster for me.
