Reason's Jacob Sullum does a pretty good job of explaining why marijuana is classified by the government as the same sort of drug as heroin or methamphetamine. If reading it has you thinking the whole thing is nonsensical, that's because it is.

The saddest part to me about all this, is how state's boast the taxes collected rather than the lives saved & jobs created. Meanwhile, the tax raising freaks create more & more scare tactics as to why taxes should be increased & private lands confiscated.
Anybody who has followed the ridiculous vaping wars knows what they're really up to. Save taxes, increase taxes, save the public health groups instead of the health of the public, all greed. Pure greed.
