We're Just Trying To Help?
A writer at antiwar.com explains the causes and results of recent U.S. involvement overseas. I was unaware of the skullduggery going on in Syria before things got out of hand:
"The US had been involved in fomenting unrest in Syria at least five years or more before violence broke out. A WikiLeaks-released cable from 2006 shows how hard the US Embassy in Damascus was working to figure out a way to overthrow the government. Shortly after the partially manufactured protests devolved into violence, the CIA moved in and began arming (and importing) rebels to finish the deed. In five years the country has been destroyed, hundreds of thousands killed, millions left without homes."

Syria is one of the countries that are determined to get rid of the petro dollar i.e. all oil must be bought and sold with the U.S. dollar. Many countries have determined to change this arrangement, including Iraq (during Saddam's reign) Libya (we nixed that) and Russia. So yes, skulldudgery is exactly the correct term to use regarding our involvement in oil producing countries. Our deep and continued involvement in these countries is not for the purpose of "helping our allies".
Did you look at the mailing list?
Department of the Treasury
Israel Tel Aviv
National Security Council
Secretary of State
The League of Arab States
U.S. Mission to European Union (formerly EC) (Brussels)
United Nations (New York)
United States Central Command
White House
This shows a lot more than US involvement. The UN was involved. The Arab League. And, apparently, the Arab League and Israel were mutually involved.
Interesting....

That doesn't mean we need to be part of it.
"Human Rights groups, such as Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, have detailed how the Assad regime's secret police routinely tortured, imprisoned, and killed political opponents, and those who speak out against the regime. In addition, some 600 Lebanese political prisoners are thought to be held in regime prisons since the Syrian occupation of Lebanon, with some held for as long as over 30 years."

This goes back to the questions I asked you and which you have so far not answered.
Had it been very clear that Hitler was killing millions of Jews, Romas, gays and disable people would you have supported using force to stop him?
Had it been very clear that Pol Pot was killing millions of Cambodians would you have supported using force to stop him?
I'll add a third...
Do you believe that the US should come to the aid of non-American citizens in any circumstance or should we only take care of our own?
"Human Rights groups, such as Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, have detailed how the Assad regime's secret police routinely tortured, imprisoned, and killed political opponents, and those who speak out against the regime."
I can only guess, but I'm assuming these folks are the same ones we're bombing now. Maybe Assad has it right?
You guess is completely wrong.
Try looking stuff up.
The people who are fighting against Assad are called 'the rebels'. The rebels are being attacked by Assad (using, among other things, chemical weapons) and the Russians.
