John Bolton For Sec of State?
Media is abuzz over speculation over who president- elect Trump will choose for his cabinet positions. John Bolton's name came to the forefront yesterday as a possible appointment to Secretary of State. Let's hope not. I understand he has a long history of supporting just about any U.S. military intervention. Senator Rand Paul seems to agree.
No way of knowing why people voted for Trump, but I would think at least a fair amount of them did so in hopes of a less aggressive foreign policy. John Bolton is not the man for that. Appointment of John Bolton to Secretary of State would not only be a betrayal of voters, but a strong sign that nothing will change despite a Trump presidency.
Reason magazine also covered Rand Paul's feelings about Bolton.

I'm afraid the United States is sliding out of control and in danger of an immense wreck.
I hope there are a few Republicans in the Senate who will keep the worst from happening.
Again,
Trump is an insider.... lobbyist ring a bell?
He misled voters as being an outsider, but because he is a wealthy TV personality, voters gobble it up.
He ran as an inside outsider to appoint insiders if elected.
John Bolton is a pro military, go kick some ass now type......not what is needed if immigration is dealt with an the Jewish state fends for itself.....
Trump is about as far from being an insider as we could find unless we went outside the country to find a president.
He has no contacts in government. He's flailing around looking for people to fill the top positions in his administration.
I suspect lobbyists flocked around him like vultures on roadkill, sensing a good feeding opportunity. I'm guessing he heard "Exxon? Yeah, that's a big company. Come on in and let's talk."
This is a 70 year old guy who has no apparent friends. He's never involved himself in politics. He arrived at the end of his campaign with no list of people he might want to install in his administration. He didn't even know that when PBO left office all the people working for Obama also left. Day before yesterday he realized that he has 4,000 administration jobs to fill in two months.
Trump's people are apparently asking Obama's people if they can recommend any good Republicans to fill the chairs being vacated.
What we're likely to see is all the marginal people who have failed in government to come rushing to Trump, looking for a good paying job.
Quality people are likely to stay away. Anyone who has a good reputation and decent earning potential elsewhere is not likely to risk their reputation and future by getting caught up in the mess that appears to be building.
Not that it matters since I live in California, but I voted for Trump because of money and guns.
My Income taxes will be cut in half. I am really looking forward to the low corporate tax and lower capital gains tax. I will finally reap the benefit from the companies I have invested in for the last 35 years.
With the new Supreme Court Justices, my Federal gun rights should be secure for the rest of my life.
Now I only have to worry about what damage California will continue to do to my gun rights.
What I am I supposed to do with the 100's of magazines I have that hold over 10 rounds? Give them to the State with no compensation?
I hope the Courts will find that unconstitutional.
I like Bolton, he will finally give our foreign policy some back bone after 8 years of appeasement and apology.
" ...he will finally give our foreign policy some back bone after 8 years of appeasement and apology."
Wow! The most militarily aggressive country in the world has an appeasing and apologetic foreign policy?
Trump lobbied state gubbamint hard for his mega millions projects.......has made deals in exchange for kckbacks.......insiders is also inclusive of lobbying, contact to connect projects, lifestyles politically......never said Trump was a gubbamint official.....and ya don't have to be a gubbamint official to be considered an "insider"😙
Trump ain't flailing around......sheesh Bob, he has people just oozing to be on "his team"......
HENCH hunches Bolton ain't so bad, ain't so tough.....let's see Bolton go fight in the middle East.....or, hide tail between his legs.
He's announced a ban on officals turning lobbyists. Every new hire has to sign an agreement that they will not become lobbyists within 5 years of leaving.
I'm mixed on Bolton, but I trust Rand's informed opinions over concon Levin's any day.

I guess you don't remember Osama's apology tour right after he was elected for his first term.
I guess you also don't remember his appeasement of Iran for the nuke deal.
Also, you act as though the U.S. being aggressive militarily is always a bad thing, I disagree.
"Quality people are likely to stay away." BW
5 million democratic party registered voters stayed away, quality people who could not vote for a politivally well known feminist liar.......and sexist, misandryst.
