Civil Disorder In Eureka

The Lost Coast Outpost reports on an anti- Trump demonstration in Eureka that seems to have gotten out of hand...or did it? I actually heard it first on KMUD radio. Sounded to me like the girl who called KMUD seemed proud of the goings on. Protesters have blocked 4th Street and maybe 5th by the courthouse. Going exactly to plan, I would think.

I'll say (or write) the same thing I wrote when the Occupy d- bags took over the courthouse way back when: It's too bad enough of the townsfolk don't have the courage to take matters into their own hands and go down there and kick some ass...or worse. It's called civil disobedience for a reason, and there are limits, and sometimes consequences, to free speech.

I'm tired of Eureka Police being put in the position of being the bad guys. Those of us who live here should have the guts to take back our town. I hesitate to write that because I don't know that I have the courage but, while listening to accounts on KMUD, I thought it might be time well spent to go downtown and use a Wrist Rocket ( a heavy duty slingshot), or whatever, to nail some of the protesters. That might teach them that supposed free speech can have its price. Plus, maybe they'll think twice about doing it again.

But, shamefully, I don't have the guts, aside from being too lazy. Hey, I have to wash the dishes. Some of us actually have responsibilities.

Let the flaming begin!

More than 2,000 people marched and demonstrated peacefully, reportedly the largest demonstration in Eureka's history.

4 people were arrested for briefly blocking 4th street.

No violence, not even a fake libertarian with a Wrist Rocket.

Lost Coast Outpost correctly described the situation. Some nutjobs caused trouble at the courthouse, not at the protest event, which was on the streets near the waterfront. LoCO described them as a "rogue group" which is accurate. The rogue group, judging by the LoCo photos, looked to me to be mostly college age kids.

Every type of person showed up to the civil, legal, peaceful protest walk/speeches in the downtown..

Fred, you have no idea what it was like. The march was peaceful and every kind of human was there. There was nothing negative. I watched one police officer get five hugs just in the time it took to walk by him. The speakers were great and positive and the whole thing went smoothly. The group who decided (after the march was done) to block the streets was really not part of the main march. They had a separate protest at the end of the boardwalk and wore stuff that made them look like Anonymous anarchists (i.e. masks, the letter A in a circle, etc.).

You really need to get out more or get more reliable information before you send out your uninformed opinions. Or at least listen to some of the commenters who were there?

You honestly meant this? We all just get out our baseball bats, load up the pick-up trucks and drive on down to Old Town and bust some heads? Have you lost your mind?

Rather ironic considering this was an anti-fascist rally and you are inspired to take a page out of the "How to Be a Fascist in 10 Easy Lessons" playbook.

Fred, I've often thought that at times you were crazy. I didn't think you were actually this monstrously mean. I feel sorry for you.

Arrests were made because traffic was blocked.

Keep in mind I wrote I didn't have to guts to actually do anything. I will say, though, if someone blocks my way, whether I'm walking down the sidewalk or driving down the street, and won't move, they should get whatever it takes to get them out of the way. I think a driver would be justified in getting out of the car with a tire iron and going upside a marcher's head if he would get out of the way otherwise.

If they protest respectfully & peacefully, I'm like Fred is, all kinds of warm & fuzzy for them.
If they disrespectfully & intentionally forbid me (or others) from our-their rights of liberty, life or property (including our bodies, thoughts, speech), then they have lost-given up their right to rights. If they believe they still have a right to block our-my liberties, they are wrong. If they believe they have the right to intimidate, bully, threaten, hurt, over power, they are wrong.

Fred:

Legally, that kind of behavior would get you in jail. The law (you know, that concept that helps to keep us from constantly flying at everybody else's throats) says that if you dish out more force than necessary to resolve a situation, especially where there is no danger to life or property, then you are guilty of at least assault. Add your tire iron into the mix and it becomes assault with a deadly weapon.

But since you're such a good sport no doubt you'd get probation. For some of your readers who do not comprehend the niceties of our society, they may get some years.

But to hell with the law. Is your moral compass so rusty that you advocate (not that you have the courage to do it yourself) use of potentially lethal force against a peaceful protester that posed no physical threat to you and yours?

You'd risk killing someone over what is nothing more than a minor inconvenience?

Fred, either you have lost it or I have lost it because your viewpoint makes no empirical sense to me. I vote you.

Another decepticon statement by Mola.......Fred intended by his own admission to invoke the upside the head attitude if he were driving his car and all of a sudden was blocked by protesters blocking the street.

Yes, more people than Mola believe people need a beat down once in a while for fucking with others using illegal tactics.

Fred,

Was this a sanctioned and permitted march with required portapotties? An event coordinator?

Did this march occur on the roads, sidewalks or both?

Did you know marches are illegal when they impede others from daily activities within the Public way and private property?

Did you know Marchers were impeding traffic flows, and not allowing pedestrians to walk the opposite direction unobstructed?

Did you know local pigs enforce these laws in Arcata, but not Eureka? Don't believe it, think 420 day, Arcata Park protest day as a starter......Or, the Plaza, where the APD puts up with no street or sidewalk blocking tactics......APD walks around and tells people to move along, puck their shit up out of the way, etc....

Eureka, since it is a shit town, falls prey to protesters much easier than Arcata.

Fortuna south (less Headwaters), nobody gives a fuck to protest because their faces don't get media attention.

Attention is what it is all about, in life for most, as we blog, do business, civil service, protest, etc.....Most everything in life is by and for attention because politics is involved over individual human rights and low end personal economics.

That is right, to hell with the laws when enforcement is lacking......To hold Fred hostage to a society that won't live or enforcement e its own rules is an open ticket to justifiable defiance.

Maybe politicians and attorneys should quit raping, because that is assault, battery and use of a deadly weapon be wise the way gubbamint uses its weapons is to shred and tear, make not usable ever again in some incidents, others just lots of damage that gubbamint never pays for because taxation is used to cause the scenario you just read.

Minor inconvenience.....More like a person prone to no less constantly shit stirring upon others.......What is that saying parents would mention during scolding......The punishment you get also makes up for the shit stirring you did not get caught on......In other words, some people are just physical or mental abusers, and nothing gubbamint has been doing is curtailing the conduct, so at some point, ya gotta put the beast down for good.

Kinda like local head cases with mental disorders, some are con artists using the color of persuasions to deceive people so that a "health disease" can be scapegoated for innocence, when all there is is an Anthony Hopkins type character, or Jodi Arias character, or any number of Humboldt County type scuzzy bag losers who intentionally impede society......

Ya, time is up for such lawlessness unnecessary.

Yeah I wish they would have just strung up those protestors that dumped all that tea into Boston Harbor 244 years ago...

The cops were on the ball during the march. They warned the protesters to stay on the sidewalk, out of traffic, plus they arrested the few obnoxious ones who blocked other's rights to travel freely.
Those who think it's alright to block the free travels of anybody, especially of Doctors on route to the ER, are murderers.
