Fred's Humboldt Blog
I'm a Libertarian living in Humboldt County, CA. I've lived here in Eureka since 1973 and joined the Libertarian Party in 1992. This blog will mostly focus on local political issues, but I may stray into state and national issues as well, when I can't help myself. Please post your comments by clicking on the "comments" link at the bottom of each post. Although I do moderate comments, you need not be a registered user to post them.

Did you put it up yourself or did someone else do it? I need to do make one for myself.
Just thought you guys should know:
Wikipedia is not for dumbfucks to create vanity articles about themselves.
I take Wikipedia very seriously. That's why I'm an administrator.
With the power to delete articles unilaterally. Articles like yours.
The Wikipedia guys get really pissed over things like this. They don't find things funny, which is sad.
their not vanity articles. they're historical pieces.
Oh really? Who'd they send that to anon.r? My page is still up there and, while I may have put mine up with some humor in mind, everything on there is true. Besides, if you do a web search for me, depending on what I've been doing lately, you can usually find a number of pages with my name on them in. Sometimes I've been surprised at what I find. I've found a few newspaper web sites that published letters to the editor on mine I hadn't realized they published as no all newspapers call to confirm your identity.
I'll be the first to fess up, Nick. I started my page myself after I ended up there after doing a search for our Sec. of State candidate, Gail Lightfoot, to see if she had a campaign page anywhere to link to. One of the hits was her Wikipedia entry so I edited her entry just a bit and figured, what the heck, I'll do one of these on myself.
Yeah, what Nick said about historical pieces.
When you think about it, looking back in history you could probably think of hundreds of not so famous people that years later you wish you knew more about, for one reason or another. I'm trying to think of one right now for an example, but you get my drift.
Wouldn't it be great to have had a huge database, like wikipedia is supposed to be, hundreds or thousands of years ago and maintained to present day. Some people that turned out to be famous, perhaps even after their death, could have all kinds of info on them that we could access today that otherwise we might not have.
But my big concern is if someone screws with ones entry, I would hate to do one on myself and thenm weeks later find its been rewritten by one of my self-proclaimed enemies.
Don't get me wrong, I agree. The way those guys say it is that it should be started by someone else, not you. That was posted to another place about someone adding themself to Wikipedia. I think they are really more cranky after the guy claimed to be a Duke or some shit and tried to rape some highschoolers.
I may create one for myself.
PLEASE DO
I can't wait to edit it.
That's the thing; Some folks are gonna edit the entries and try to screw things up, for whatever reason. I'm worried about that, myself, but at the same time, I always try to remain friends with everyone.
Doing a web search on "Nick Bravo", I didn't come up with any good hits, on the first page. Not much there.
Nick can make his claim to fame, after running for the Arcata City Council, but, quite honestly, I don't know that it would be a good idea; considering the bad press coverage and all.
That's not something I'd want to go for myself.
Yeah and since perception is reality for most people.....
