Fred's Humboldt Blog
I'm a Libertarian living in Humboldt County, CA. I've lived here in Eureka since 1973 and joined the Libertarian Party in 1992. This blog will mostly focus on local political issues, but I may stray into state and national issues as well, when I can't help myself. And now we know?
I'm certain that we're adding to it but I wonder if we're actually having much of an effect given the cyclic nature of climate which is a far greater cycle than the human lifespan.
The thing is - most charts on global warming only show the last 100 or so years, and the temperatures are rising. We are on a steady climb out of a little ice-age.
This chart goes much farther back. Why is this information never shown?
It is shown. Ever Google "global climate change chart"?
Global climate is an important issue to debate, but it is sad that what is communicated often has a clear shifting towards the worst-case scenarios and the doomsday theories. There is no reason to scare people by giving them only one side of the argument.

Yeah, 7:05, and what I get 10-1 is scare tactics and doomsday scenarios and 100 year charts. I guess if I keep going through the pages I'd get to one that showed this chart or its equivalent. All the arguments that run counter to global warming get short shrift.
The fascinating thing (which was pointed out to me) is that the peaks in temperature coincide with great advances in human history.
I just find it interesting. That's all.
Maybe global warming is something to look forward to. Not fear.
Come on Rose. You didn't look did you? There are dozens of charts that go back millions of years.
Here's just one site.
and another
Thanks! I'll check it out.
Found some better ones, too.
If you have the patience to look at some real science instead of politically motivated nonsense in the form of graphs, go here:

Why is it that there is hardly a credible scientist not on the payroll of right wing think tanks and the oil companies who doesn't believe our civilizations and our planet's current life are in big trouble because of the climate crisis we're already demonstrably in?
As for normal variations in climate, the indicators that go well beyond temperature show that we're way past that.
Is this about ignoring a crisis because government might have to do something about it, and you guys all hate government? Be sure to explain that to your grandchildren.
As far as I know there were no climatologists thousands, much less millions of years ago. I am not convinced that this "climate change" is not just another small slice of a climate cycle that repeats every couple thousand years or so.
Government=Good Private=Rightwing/Bad
There won't be any grandchildren. We're all going to DIE unless the government comes up with a plan to save us!
why the hell is it the govt's job to "save" anybody? All your doing is replacing the judeo-christian Jesus with your own brand of Collectivist Gov't.
Nick should go to those links.
