Cheap Gas

Ok, I'm back.

Cheapest gas I could find was the Valero station on North State Street in Ukiah this morning.$3.13 for regular unleaded.

You number crunchers out there get to work and figure out if it's worth it to drive to Ukiah for a fill up.

You drive to Ukiah, which is about 150 miles from here, in a compact car which gets 30 mpg. You burn 5 gallons which you paid $17.50 ($3.50 per gallon) for in Eureka.

You buy 10 gallons in Ukiah at $3.13 a gallon. Total price: $31.30.

You drive back to Eureka and, in doing so, burn $15.65 in gas.

In gas alone, the trip to buy cheap gas cost you $33.15.

For the 5 gallons left in your tank, you paid $6.63 per gallon.

Thanks for crunching the numbers, 11:21.

Thanks for the welcome back, 3:59. I'll be heading back down to Frisco again next week, as much as I hate to say it. Good news is, after next week, we only have to drive down there every two weeks, as opposed to every week.

I am somewhat relieved. I HATE that drive.
