An Idea To Curtail Abandonded Vehicles
No information here on how much this is costing Mendocino County. I wonder if this is cost effective? The county is sponsoring a free turn- in for old cars in hopes of cutting down on the number of those cars that are eventually abandonded.
I can't help but wonder how many of those that are the type to abandon their cars would take advantage of this? They'd still have to pay for towing, or whatever other way they'd use to get their non- running car to the wrecking yard.
Seems to me it's an idea worth looking in to. The devils in the details, though. The big question being how much it would cost the county as opposed to how many cars get turned in that might otherwise end up alongside a roadway somewhere.

Well, some of them obviously tow them to the ravines they dump them into late at night. But you're right. It's in the details.
I also think hazardous waste disposal should be free of charge.
Except for the Balloon Track.
Or any other CERCLA candidate. I'm talking about household oil. No, I certainly don't want to pay taxes to bail out the big guys.
As I recall, a few years back a portable car crusher was set up for a few day. Think it was in Fortuna. It was a one shot deal and was successful. I think State environmental funding paid for it. My opinion is that the scumbags who abandon cars wouldn't go one inch out of their way for anyone else, let alone spend good drinking and smoking money.
Jerry Droz , has been against Junk cars for years . Read more about this guy . He is really concerned about making Eureka a good place to live for everyone . Who's left , hmmmmmmmm LaValle , let's see he wants another Motel turned into another shelter and there's Glass of course , he wants the criminals to run this town and Woolford , seems to me she's had 4 years to do the things she's proposing then there's the store manager of course . he's hiding under the blankets . Well , that leaves Droz and he's got my vote !
