County Redevelopment Plan Nixed

I was pleasantly surprised to see the county's five year attempt at developing a redevelopment agency finally get tossed. I got the feeling, just from what little I've read in the news, that the supes, with the exception of Rodoni, were pretty determined on making it happen.

This isn't necessarily the end of it. They might well broach the issue again once they get somewhere with the County General Plan.

Boy, did Bonnie do the endoround. 360 and all. Wasn't she the one getting all that press a few months ago about providing, like it was a given, hundreds of affordable houses through "her" (yes she took full ownership during the primary race) redevolpment program? And then she votes against the program to save Humboldt County? Some leader. That convinces me, vote for Nancy. Oh, I can already hear the lefty spin doctors.

Well, in fairness to her, with all the opposition there seems to be to it (which actually surprises me), and the fact an election is looming, it would seem to wise thing to do.

It can always be started up again later.

Fairness? A sellout just for a vote? In all fairness she has Salzman and local solutions help her win votes? In fairness she abandons her Republican base because they are losing elections just to keep her job? We need leaders not wish/washy what do I have to do to get re-elected self promoters.

I think we all know that the Re Development project was Bonnie's project. I attended many meetings with Fire Dept heads, County heads and so on---She was pushing her agenda with her side kick Girard. This trio even went so far as to push the project through by not informing the public and the communities that they say were so blighted and need of repair.

I take my hat off to the communities that stood up to this Trio----Glendale, Manila, Samoa, Fairhaven, Alton and so on. These communities united togeather and said no to the Bonnie machine.
These communities believe that they have their best interest at heart and no gov agency should tell them what to do---that they know what there communities want! You all in this wounderful County have been crying Democracy for some time.... Well, we have just witnessed true Democracy. The people standing up, saying that they are fed up, and voicing their opinion about a project that would have destroyed their live and their families for generations to come.

So, should we vote for Bonnie this November who has stated in the news papers that she is for working families? I think all we need to do is ask the community members---families who voted this farce down!

I expect Flemming's campaign to be pounding Neely with this $500,000 blunder. What a waste - maybe I should vote for Nancy.

blame blunder falls on the hands on all 5 of them, not just Bonnie. The other 4 could have killed it months ago if they wanted to.Rodoni was its biggest critic, followed by Geist.Bonnie certainly drove it,but she could have been derailed by the other board members if they wanted to stop it.They didn't.
