Obama Worship On Steroids?

It has to be. Unbelievable that the North Coast Journal used a rambling, Obama worship commentary for their cover story this week. Stunning to see a local publication come out so openly in support of a candidate. I think that's the first time I've seen such blatant support for a candidate in any of our local papers.

Stuff like that belongs in editorial columns, not the front page.

Our Obama, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name...

I fully agree - what the hell is up with them?

It is shameless and certainly makes it clear that NCJ is an advocacy paper. I suppose if they did the same thing for McCain next week they might seem a little more even handed, but advocacy belongs in the editorials, not the front page.

I wonder if Media Maven, Marcy Burstiner, will be commenting on this?

Hmmm- the Journal is now doing celebrity profiles?

What about Hank Sims and Judy Hodgson?

im equally dumbfounded by both the knee-jerk Obama haters and the knee-jerk Obama lovers. its so hard to get real information with both sides being so ferverous in their quest to destroy or elect the guy.....

Does Tom Hayden know William Ayers? Hayden used to advocate waging war on America from within. Ayers actually took up arms against America from within. Hayden used words. Ayers used bombs.

Who else stands quietly in the shadows of Obama's past, holding him by strings of loyalty to a discredited leftist ideology?

I agree. They can get a way with it because a majority of their readership joins in the circle-jerk. But it leaves me wondering, where can someone in Humboldt get authentic critical journalism anymore?

Come on, the first sentence of the article is, "Barack Obama, it is true, is a transformational leader." Sounds like an editorial to me.

I'm thinking about resubscribing to the Atlantic Monthly just so I don't go brain dead.

Hey, the Democratic National Convention starts Monday. Who do you think will be the V.P. Dem. nominee, Fred?

Go Obama!

Humboldt County is represented by retired EHS home-ec teacher, Pam Cahill. She has is blog from the convention.

Obama announced Joe Biden, the U.S. Senate's most conceited blowhard, will be Obama's running mate.

You know Joe?

A blogger in another venue wrote tonight something that well describes Senator Biden:

"Have you ever watched a Senate Judiciary proceeding? Biden takes 17 minutes to ask a question with the first 16 and a half minutes spent bloviating about himself."

Biden thinks highly of himself. In fact, most people who follow such things believe Biden is about one-third as brilliant as he believes himself to be.

This election campaign is going to be such an embarassment for rank-and-file Democrats, who really deserve a lot better than we are getting from our Party.

Senator Biden is a good solid V.P. I may not have agree with the Senate Commiitee that interviewed Justice Clarence Thompson and held the hearings prior to approval of his Supreme Court appointment, because I thought the group appeared to diminish the unwanted sexual advances made by Clarence Thompson to a co-worker, Anita Hill. What a long drawn-out process that was!

However, Biden has a long history of serving his country with valor and has the experience garnered. He is not a rich man. He is a public servant. He is also Roman Catholic, which may bolster the democratic ticket.

Biden hates the right of the people to keep and bear arms.

Not impressed with Joe Biden, although I suppose he could have picked worse.

I've found my perspective changed a bit after being a third party guy for a while. Now I can't help but laugh at each of the major parties when they run down their opponents.

But, some criticisms are certainly legitimate. I just noticed yesterday, while browsing through a copy of the latest American Rifleman- the National Rifle Association's monthly magazine- they devoted a page to slamming Obama for his anti- gun rights positions. I guess they're justified in doing so as they've documented all their talking points.

No surprise they're backing the Republican. They nearly always do and usually for good reason. I'm wondering just how they're going to present their endorsements this time around? Not sure how they'll rate McCain but Bob Barr, the Libertarian Party candidate, is usually given an A+ by the gun groups and sat (maybe he still does?) on the NRA Board of Directors.

Will they ignore Barr this time around or give him any kind of mention? We should find out soon.

I guess I didn't embed the link right. If anybody's interested, the NRA's argument against Obama can be found at:

Biden treated representatives of the NRA with such hatred and contempt, you would have thought they were enemies of our nation, not representatives of an organization attempting to protect one of the Constitutional rights of American citizens.

I'm sure Biden's face hardens into a mask of hatred on many occasions when he is in his power position in the Senate committee meeting rooms. He is like a Grand Inquisitor. His election-year smiles conceal a flint-hard heart.

This is awesome. I can watch the commie-crats drool all over their VP candidate. A proven liar and plagiarist, and a barely average college student. I wonder about all those that have crapped all over George Bush as being dumb, when he was a helluva lot better student at a helluva lot better university. Both Obama and Biden are caricatures. IF they get elected, our country is totally screwed.

Yes. Totally.

I'm dissapointed in his selection for V.P. It's going to hurt , Obama , but anyone is better than having the McCain brain in office which may be another 4 yr. extension of the Bush regime .

Is Obama Constitutionally eligible to be President? Was he born in Hawaii or Kenya?

If McCain were as smart as the carson park ranger, he could be the editor of a small-town blog instead of being the presumptive Republican nominee for President of the United States of America.

When the 2nd Ammendment was written, people were armed with muskets, swords, and knives. Cannons were difficult to obtain. I don't think they had any idea of the kinds "arms" that are available in modern times.

My yearly Christmas card from my uncle is a NRA card - usually a snow scene with a buck under a tree.

Biden is an excellent choice for V.P

Which was the equivalent to what the British Army was armed with at the time.

At 11:00 AM, Blogger Carol said...

True, regarding the British, and there were also pitchforks and bayonets.

At 11:20 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

That's right, Fred.

People who think the NRA should be satisfied for Americans to own muskets and swords have no idea what the Second Amendment means to the preservation of the People's liberty.

Many politicians want us to think "the right to keep and bear arms" has something to do with the right to go hunting.

The Second Amendment is not about putting meat on the table. It is about maintaining the liberty of the American people by ensuring that we have the means to check the power of tyrants.

Obama's acceptance speech is being hailed as unifying and uplifting by the MSM, despite the angry strident tone in Obama's voice. He, the Annointed One, can do no wrong. So, we must... vote... for... Obama.
