Vote NO on everything...

..says the Sacramento Bee in their recommendations for the upcoming ballot initiatives. The one exception is Prop 11, the one that deals with redistricting. Who'd a thunk the Sacramento Bee would go so solidly NO on all the bond issues?

As always, if asked for a login to the Bee site, you can use humboldtlib as the username and blogspot as the password.

The ACLU said pretty much the same thing...

The one exception is YES on Prop. 5 since it would shift drug offenders out of our overcrowded and unaffordable prison system and into lower cost drug treatment centers.

There should be no exceptions to no on everything. The Propositions are a crutch for Sacramento, allowing them to pass the buck to voters. Forget it. Vote no on everything and force our lawmakers to do their jobs.

It is a rarity that I agree with the SacBee, but I am willing to go out on the limb on this one and say AMEN.

And the reason to vote yes on Prop 11 is to throw the bums out as quickly as possible by not allowing them to carve out comfortable challenge-proof districts in which to run.

Normally I'd agree with you, 10:28. But California is in a budget meltdown and is about to go insolvent.

Prop. 5 is the only one on the ballot which would actually SAVE money by getting nonviolent offenders out of our overcrowded state prisons.
