Police State: Coming To Your Neighborhood?
Here's a troubling video (a bit over 13 minutes) about New York City's Stop and Frisk policy. I realize it's one- sided for the most part, but I also think it's pretty much spot on. It wouldn't surprise me these sorts of policies spread around the nation sooner than many of us expect. It could be argued they already have.
This is a massive civil rights violation by any department involved and they should be investigated and prosecuted by the U.S. Department of Justice. I highly doubt either Obama or Romney would be willing to get involved in stopping this sort of thing.
As this writer points out, Obama's record is nothing to brag about. Romney hasn't given any indication he'd be any different. Gary Johnson has gone on record in support of our civil liberties.
Addendum: Ooops! I forgot to thank Radley Balko for the heads up on the video. I also noticed a link on his post to The Nation that tells a bit more about the video.

At least they're not flicking you in your testicles like the TSA does if they don't like your attitude... yet.
Don't believe me? Google it and read it yourself.
Keep in mind that in Obama's 4 years, he's had a Democrat-led Congress for a total of 5 months. To say the GOP has served an obstructionist role in his presidency would be a dramatic understatement, just as the GOP stopped virtually all Democrat legislation under Bush. The partisanship in Congress is unparallelled in our country's history.
If I hate Obama for anything, it's his kowtowing to GOP demands, not speaking out every single day about what the GOP is doing.

I don't know that you can blame this on Republicans. The size and power increases when the executive branch and legislature are held by the same party, regardless of which party that is. Had Obama had a Democratic congress to work with, history suggests things might well be worse than they are now.
That's supposed to read "the size and power OF GOVERNMENT increases...".

Yep Fred, you can NOW INCLUDE The Lost Coast Outpost as a "police state endorsing blog" since Hank Sims has finally resorted to banning HOJ (Hank Sims writes, "you no longer have permission to post on this site."). What HOJ has proven is that the facts and truth destabalize many connected insiders inside Humboldt County. Hank don't like the HOJ and has not for years. All Hank can do is "shut people out for no legitimate reasons" except to help plug holes in the leaking local political boat. Hank's action PROVES that Hank Sims plays the same ball as crooked politicians. Hank Sims is a crooked, sinister individual (He cowardly walked out of his office when HOJ showed-up for a get-together back in 2010 because Hank had prior implied HOJ was a Guerilla. His negative karma will get him back for his unpatriotic actions and behaviors. Too bad though that Humboldt is really not a sharing or caring community as exhibited by many connected socio-political insiders and insider wannabees. - HOJ
Hey! I kinda like Hank.
Heya HOJ, why not start your OWN blog for "truth, justice & the HOJ way?"
That way you can demonstrate qualities including Personal Responsibility, Standing on your own Two feet, and not Riding the Coattails of others.
You've got the talk down, now is time to leave the other bloggers in peace and start your own space.
truth, justice & the HOJ way.
Neat title for a blog, now that you mention it.

Fred,
You can like whomever you want, just remember you are only you and what happens to others may have yet to happen to you. Civil liberties and freedoms are either universal or they don't exist! As HOJ has mentioned on occasion, BUSINESS is engaging at an increasing rate to do the dirty work of censorship for government because the U.S. Constitution exists in its "current format". BTW, HOJ will vote for Gary Johnson too instead of Ron Paul this go-around BECAUSE Ron Paul is not "pro-choice". Had Ron Paul been Pro-Choice, he'd have received the vote over Johnson.
Fred, Question for you --> Is it wrong to respond to each poster one on one for straightforward dialogue; and, is it wrong to keep posting back and forth the dialogue with the other repeating poster? Just curious to another perspective on engaging communication as taught by the public eduction system. - HOJ
Is it wrong to respond to each poster one on one for straightforward dialogue; and, is it wrong to keep posting back and forth the dialogue with the other repeating poster?.
Hard to say. Maybe it's particular to each blog? One problem I think we've all seen is where the discussion digresses from the point of the original post. Hard to say where to draw the line sometimes.
I try to limit my deletion of comments to those that consist of gratuitous insults or just snark with nothing relevant to the original subject or any pertinent discussion.

Hey Fred,
Thanks for responding sincerely. The question must be asked though, "Do you understand that what you may or may not believe as relevant is more than possibly relevant to other(s)?" Often, discussions have many "sub-contexts" that connect the dots of the bigger thesus IF "The Reader" is willing to keep an open mind. Again, Thanks for the opportunity to understand better your p.o.v. Personally, a hands-off policy is the best and only option when it comes to censorship. Two-way communication is effective more times than not. Now, time to get inebriated since its near beer thirty and honkey tonk time. - HOJ
HOJ, It's a cruel world, and I am not saying that sarcastically. Don't worry about being ostracized from the LCOP. Left wingers are the most intolerant of any group. If you were a homosexual then they would love you besides all else because you were pushing an accepted ideology. Or a government worshiper, or anything else on pinko list. But your not. So be a man and take your rectal integrity with you.
