Humboldt Deputies Back Fleming
John Chiv reports the Humboldt Deputy Sheriff's Organization has endorsed Humboldt County district attorney candidate, Maggie Fleming. If true, that's a biggie. Endorsements from law enforcement groups carry a lot of weight with most people.
To me, such endorsements aren't necessarily a good thing. Do we really want the ones arresting us also telling us who should prosecute us?

Uhhhh, yes. More than anyone else in the county, I'd look to a sheriff deputy for his or her perspective on a good prosecutor.
The gubermint has the right to know what we are doing all the time, to bring private witnesses against us, detain us indefinitely without being charged or brought to a speedy trial, and keep you from protesting against the wrong political party with IRS audits. What else you want? A new DA that's impartial? Move to Russia.
Oh, for crying out loud, Fred! we go through this every goddam election. It's been a complete VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE IN GALLEGOS - with unprecedented endorsement from every single law enforcement group for his challengers, who they knew to be competent - AND NO ONE CARED.
Now - if it was a school district, and ALL of the teachers were telling you the Superintendent was incompetent, would you say the same thing?
These are the people who know what the job entails. They know what's needed.
NO?
Fleming (not Flemming).
