Cuba
I don't know the re- establishing of diplomatic relations with Cuba after 50 years needs defending, but I'll go ahead and link to Nick Gillespie's take on it. That anyone in congress from either the Left or Right is opposed to it, is appalling.
Potential presidential or congressional candidates- Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush, for example- that oppose the opening of diplomatic relations and and end to trade sanctions would never get my support. As far as I'm concerned such a position on that issue alone would be a deal breaker.
Kudos to the President for his action in this regard.

I am shocked, but I totally agree with you Fred!
Only Rand Paul, potential 2016 aspirant, came out in favor. He is clearly distinguishing himself from the field on this and many other issues. Drug sentencing reform, and whittling down the Mil-Industrial complex. I think some of his positions are the death knell in a Republican primary, but kudos to him to not by rote attack the President merely because it was his policy.

Yep, but I agree it's highly unlikely he'd get anywhere in the primary. I suspect he'll get treated pretty much the same as his father was.
If he actually won the primary I would likely vote for him if for no other reason than he'd actually stand some chance of winning. I am a bit leery of him if only has been pointed out by others that he tries to be all things to all people. I understand that but, as Nick Gillespie wrote when Rand first made the scene, if he tries too hard to appeal to all constituencies, he'll likely get the support of none.
That aside, I'm also worried about who he might assign cabinet positions and lower offices to. I wouldn't be surprised, assuming he won, part of the deal for Republican support would be putting boilerplate Republican types into the different positions. That could mean pretty much the status quo as far as any changes taking place.
High time we dealt with the Cuban issue. Long over due after so many decades and the only reason why it continued so long was due to some Cuban exiles and their political flunkies!
