I'm a Libertarian living in Humboldt County, CA. I've lived here in Eureka since 1973 and joined the Libertarian Party in 1992. Local writer and bicyclist, Barry Evans, has some interesting info on bicycle helmet statistics. Like me, he thinks it's dumb to not wear a helmet. He doesn't always wear his. I always did, at least when I had a bike.
