Pat Cleary and Humboldt Area Foundation
The Humboldt Consequential has a must read expose on the goings on with Pat Cleary and the Humboldt Area Foundation. Cleary is Executive Director of HAF. If true, Cleary has HAF involved behind the scenes in various local political efforts, even going so far as to hire a Bay Area activist to run them. Nothing wrong with those efforts in themselves but, as THC writes;
"No, our beef is with HAF, and their backhanded attempts to hijack the politics and voices of our community through the once-proud reputation and influence of a storied “non-partisan” organization."
I agree. Pretty shameless behavior but, even if completely true, it should be no surprise.

Years ago I spoke with Pat Cleary to make him aware that the moneys he was directing to Friends of the Dunes were having a detrimental impact on our coastline leading to mass erosion, dead trees, loss of wildlife and drained wetlands.
Didn't phase him, the money kept going to the "Friends" - the results are stunningly grotesque.
Poor Fred. The world is changing so fast. His only response lately is to shut people up. Keep the gays in the closet, don't let people speak for social change, don't let people speak for civil rights.
Just everybody shut up and watch TV!

You bet. The organization that he leads is inappropriately taking gifted money, intended for environmental good and directing it towards a group that promotes environmental harm.

Why do church zealots, aka Wiccans, get to run the government? Without co2, trees can't produce pure oxygen. Without pure oxygen, life cannot sustain. Is this why the government has limited allowable toxins levels to "0"? The government has declared all exhales to be cancerous.
