Stanford Comes To Humboldt?

I was surprised to read in the Times- Standard that Stanford School of Medicine has had some sort of training arrangement with medical folks in Humboldt since the '70s. Even more surprised that they seem interested in expanding that program. We spent some time at Stanford a few weeks ago and most down there don't even know where Eureka is.

But, more power to them. It would just be nice if their medical services could be accessed up here, rather than us having to go down there as seems to be the case now. That's a long drive.

21 weeks to become a physician assistant! those folks are licensed to do most of what doctors do- and it takes them 8-12 years to be able to do it! is that realy the kind of health care humboldt wants??

That's 26 months for a physician assistant (three academic years), on top of completing the same prerequisite courses required for a physician, on top of three years of other healthcare training and experience.

Anon's fear mongering is tiring.

yawn.

(When I say the same prerequisite courses, I'm referring to medical school.)

Ahh, I've heard it's the home of the infamous spin doctors aka mechanical engineers posing as doctors of medicine while receiving govt & pharmaceutical funding to sway test & data results. I'm not impressed.
