Libertarian Party Opposes No Fly- No Buy

The LP beats all other parties with this release, imo:
The Libertarian Party opposes the No Fly No Buy bill and other restrictions without due process
The Libertarian Party opposes the No Fly List, "no buy" lists, and other such lists where the government infringes on a person's rights without due process of law.
In recent years, the federal government has used "the war on terror" as an excuse to
encroach on our most fundamental human rights.

Warrant-less wiretapping, detaining prisoners for years without trials in Guantanamo
Bay, "no fly" lists that are compiled secretly and without due process, and similar "no
buy" lists all violate the human rights of Americans and non-Americans alike.

Our founders would be horrified and every American should be too.

Our country claims to stand as a beacon for "liberty and justice for all" and yet there is
no liberty and no justice in these breaches of our rights.

The presumptive Republican and Democratic Presidential nominees have stated their
support for many of these programs.

In contrast, Libertarian National Committee chair, Nicholas Sarwark, says, "There
shouldn't be a no-fly list, terrorist watch list, or any other secret government list you can
be put on without due process of law." Gary Johnson, the Libertarian nominee for
President agrees.

In recent days, Congress has been debating a "No Fly No Buy" bill which would prevent
people listed on the No Fly list from buying firearms.

The Libertarian Party urges Congress to vote down any bill, such as this one, that
infringes upon rights without due process. Due process is one of the most critical
elements of our justice system, designed to protect our rights. It must be respected
and upheld, no matter the circumstances.

Currently, the No Fly List is so casual that Americans are at risk of being denied access
to commercial travel because of clerical errors. This is a terrible injustice. The idea of
using such a flawed No Fly List as a guide for restricting other rights, such as gun
ownership, is appalling.

If the government has evidence egregious enough that a person should be prevented from
boarding a plane, the government needs to take this evidence to court and have a fair and
open hearing to determine whether the person in question should have his/her rights
denied. If someone is found to be plotting violence, they should be arrested immediately
and prosecuted.

The Libertarian Party is the only political party in America devoted to protecting all
rights, of all human beings, all the time. The Libertarian Part

Yeah. They of course, would have no problem with a high capacity assault rifle that can kill 49 people and wound 53 others in less than 8 minutes. Ho hum, No prob at all.

That's the stupidest thing I've ever seen in print. No wonder the Libertarian Party is a complete joke.

Do some of the people on the no fly(and proposed no buy list have an arrest record? Sometimes a few people have give up something for the good of the whole country. It's just common sense. We seem to have a it's all about me, me, me society. Hopefully, the few people who are on the list mistakenly are able to get off it fairly quickly.

Agreed, due process prior to be putting on any list.

Problem is when evil people are con artists, and lie to the court that causes the court to take away someones gun rights.

Actially,

The weapon used was not a high capacity weapon, but the islamic terrorist had a shitload of ammunition and another side arm.

Anything that shoots can kill.

The FBI in 2014 had the guy for the taking, but they chose not to do more. Once again, politicians are complicit in murder.

The Libertarian party is not a 'complete joke"They do appear to be idealistic, and also it's common for really smart people to lack common sense, at times.

HOJ,
Do you have some sticky trigger finger problem posting the same comments over and over? You only have to punch the publish button once.

The weapon Mateen used was a Sig Sauer MCX which is a high capacity (30 rounds per magazine) assault rifle used by special forces and rabbit hunters everywhere. OK, that last bit was for the benefit of the idiot squad. LE hasn't released any info yet as to how many rounds he actually fired in total but there is at least one recording from the bathroom where some victims were hit of 24 rounds expended in less than 9 seconds.

The old M-14 that I'm familiar with only holds a 20 round clip and can be put on automatic with a selector switch. Just for comparison. It was not designed as a hunting rifle any more than the SS MCX.

To believe that the founding fathers would be anything but appalled at the number of lives lost in this country every year to gun violence, let alone, these mass murders, and would only be concerned about the "due process" of gun ownership is absurd and suggests a serious problem with a numbed-down brain. But, it is the usual drivel spoken by those who don't even understand the basic facts of colonial times in America when our founders lived. In short, there weren't a lot of guns available and those that were weren't that good. Despite lore and legend most American sharpshooters weren't that sharp, either. Lexington- Concord was a perfect example. Despite having the British on the run and most likely outnumbering the redcoats plus shooting from behind walls, the patriots inflicted fewer casualties than one would expect since all our forefathers were natural hunters, shooters and just plain wonderfully gun happy as you all are. Thing is they weren't.

But, whatever the death and destruction rate caused by guns in America, year after year, it's all a small price to pay for "due process", right? Only a psychotic maroon would believe that. You know, one who keeps polling that trigger finger on the publish button so much. Just can't stop himself. An obvious cry for help.

These smartphones do require extra patience sometimes. Being a new user of them myself, I have pressed the publish"button"a second time, because it seemed like nothing was happening. I have learned to wait and watch for it to go back to Fred's post--then wait for my comment to appear. If I happen to double post I press "delete"located at the bottom of my comment. Then press"delete"again at the top of the page that appears(it will be in really small print) That will delete the extra comment. Maybe as a"newbie"I'm a little overenthusiastically blogging!

I completely agree with their stance, thanks for posting it.
All a tyrannical govt would need is an actor (oh my, marteen acted in the oil spills adds, many of the witnesses were known crisis actors, the security firm G4S is a foreign base co that is prominent in crisis acting videos)..

Have you heard?
Libertarian's are on the no-fly list, yet clock boy's father was running for high office in Sudan. Clock boy got special treatment at WH while pop tart boy is still expelled from school.
Have you heard?
Law abiding patriots are on the no fly list, yet the Orlando shooter, Marteen, despite being tagged twice for suspicious behavior, is not. Could it be its because Marteen's daddy is running for president of Afghanistan, broadcasting hate for America on his radio show in California and otherwise a wonderful asset to our community?
