The Adult Use of Marijuana Act

I believe the Adult Use of Marijuan Act (AUMA) might be on the ballot this November. I don't know much about it but a gal has been posting almost daily on my NorCal Libertarians Yahoo Group, Lrtitta Pepper is opposed to it and claims it doesn't really legalize adult use of pot since it still allows sanctions for use.

I don't know, but I've yet to read any rebuttals to her repeated protests. Her most recent, I received this morning:

"I am pro-medical-marijuana because I have multiple sclerosis.  I save $300 a month in co-pays by using marijuana instead of prescription drugs that made me sick.
I am an attorney, so I do not support the current legalization initiative.  It is long and deceptively written, will replace medical marijuana with recreational marijuana, and send many more young adults to jail.
The Democratic Party's endorsement of this bad initiative was based on the suppression of medical marijuana patients' votes by the Chair of the Brownie Mary Club of California"

I haven't looked at the initiative's wording. Then again, I'm not sure a "clean"legalizaion initiative would be succesful at the ballot box. She might be right, but is that a valid reason for opposing it? It still might be better than the situation as-is.

Any thoughts? Anyone else been looking at this initiative? You can read more of Letitta Pepper's arguments at the NorCal Libertarians Yahoo group. Her comments are pretty much the only ones up there. You might have to join the group to read messages, but that's easy enough.

Typical lawyer, always saying the words in an agreement are not good enough or something is wrong.......as if she isnt being deceptive using her disability as a political crutch propped to politicize, even though lawyers are not politically trained as much as trained to lie and make up shit about all others.

This is a really bad bill, it poses asif it solves the MJ problem but in reality it creates more. This bill is sponsored by the billionaire who started napster sean parker. He is trying to have a corporate take over of the cannabis industry. This new bill would allow companies to vertically integrate and grow to unlimited size. This would be the end to alow of small family farms. Also the bill would create new felonys for MJ possesion and stricter rules for MJ DUI. The bill allows for 6 months in jail 2 or 4 years for cultivation over the allowed amount. Witch i think is 6 plants. This bill would continue prohibition and make it still a felony to posses over a few ounces or grams of hash. So there is still a drug war, except a select few rich folks get to take over the entire state weed industry just to enrich themselves while aresting all there competition and taxing everyone out of profitability.

AUMA will criminalize more than it legalizes. A VERY bad law for medical consumers & others. I will vote against it if it appears on my ballot

This is what California voters voted for though, the very people who are part of scheming "bills, laws".

Just like Steph Curry must admit he fucked up and was the main contributor to the Dubs losing the NBA finals, majority voters too must admit their fuck ups and quit falling back on California is overwhelmingly democrat/liberal as a reason shit gets worse. Shit gets worse because of majority voters, pure and simple.

First of all, the idea that Humboldt is just populated with "small farmers" or mom & pop growers, is beyond mythical. In my neighborhood alone in the past 10-12 years there has been a steady influx of multi-hoop growers with their god-damned diesel generators, all night light shows, every other day water trucks, myriad pick-up trucks speeding up and down the main road and, best of all, fucking semi-automatic weapon fire. Last night that last item started around 9:30 PM and went well past 10 PM. Celebrating Armed Father's Day, no doubt.
I welcome big ag interests taking over this tax-free industry of destruction and putting these asshole "neighbors" of mine out of business and the sooner the better.
